Something Beautiful

Amazing piece!

It's brilliant the way the choreography gives the impression that his knees actually bend backwards, as a faun's would. Also how the other dancers help to evoke the images on ancient Greek pottery, moving almost in just two dimensions.

That was beautiful Stella :)

I grew up with Gelsey Kirkland, Michael Barishnokov and Nureyev.....\

Amazing piece.... truly beautiful

Thankyou!

Thank you Stella,

Next time someone asks why I have a crush on ballet dancers, I am pointing them to this thread.

Try this version--http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uFRUK2SVeQc the Faun isn't as beautiful as Nuryev, but you can see more of the choreography, more of the nymphs-- and he makes it pretty clear what he's doing with the veil at the end!

And that brought me to this page.

Nijinsky was probably a bit of a physical sport-- he did things that have never been duplicated. One of his ballets, Le Spectre De la Rose, has never been performed correctly since his death.
