Some don't even follow a particular person around, they just converted to born-again trollism and spread it wherever they go.

The fact is, not everybody agrees on who is one, or even what a troll is.

The solution, however, remains the same for those you find trollish. Exercise your brain and your restraint, and simply ignore them as you would any other puerile, misbehaving individual.

We need to make a sticky post about our troll definition.

Basically, a troll is someone (usually unregistered/guest but not always) who posts nonsense or stalks a registered Lit member. Normally a troll attempts to irritate the person whom they are stalking and often irritates the entire board.

Other trolls are registered posters who may use lit as a playground for flaming, grossly inflammatory commentary and "stirring up the pot." Many times, registered or not, the motivation for this ridiculous behavior is a sick need for attention.

I can think of one such person, who by starting a thread with one post, will get 20 posts essentially discussing what an ass he is.

The bottom line to Lukky's thread is ignore those who piss you off. They won't go away otherwise.

Actually, MissT, some don't go away even if you do ignore them, but they don't "win" either. Mostly their game is attention, and it requires the participation of others, just like any other game.
