Nothing as dramatic as that, I'm afraid. Especially as my nose is still red and swollen from a poorly blocked punch. (Yes - our open-handed sparring without pads became a bit more closed fist before we were done - LOL).

BUT - I think we tied. We have very different styles but we landed and blocked pretty evenly. And I know his eye has to be a little bruised today from one of my back fists.

Didn't shut him up, though. *sigh*

And a valid oppinion it is. But allow me to reitterate. Ther is a difference in being better and being more skilled. He may be more skilled, but his attitude keeps him from being better.

It has been my experience that those with cocky attitudes do not improve much on where they are because that attitude prevents them from learning any more. They believe they know more and there is nothing futher for them to learn. They remain only to because they see themselves as "King of the Hill".

But there is but just so much that practice will get you. Speed, reach, and stamina will go a long long ways when you got against another person.

I always found the whole kata thing boring as hell. As a result, I never advanced the way other students did, but I could kick their asses during competition.
