Euphoria: Discovering that the local grocery in this relatively God-forsaken part of the States actually carries Jacobs' cream crackers.

Ambiguity: Realizing that they cost five dollars per packet.

Profligacy: Buying two.

Stupid: Making a turkey sandwich for lunch.

Insurmountable: The odds of escaping to the bedroom, persued by two tiny terrorists in fur coats, needing only blackjacks & masks to complete the mugging.

Ruse: Tossing a small piece of turkey between them, inciting a brawl.

Tactical Retreat: Rushing to the bedroom with my sandwich mostly intact while they tried to kill one another.

Guilt: Eating my sandwich while they cried piteously outside the bedroom door.

Loved it, Colly. Those damned terrorists.
Why are you talking back to the troll?

Don't you have any friend?

They make life interesting :)

And sometimes, when you are really sick or down, they are angels, staying nearby and watching over you. But as soon as you decide they are a joy, they shred your new bra because their litter isn't cleaned or their water isn't fresh. They are the proverbial, double edged sword :)

Or they decide it's time to play and pounce on your full bladder in the middle of the night.

Cat

One of mine is a nursemaid. She always knows when I am ill, sometimes a little before I do. She's normally very independent and stand-offish, but when I am ill she lays on me kneading me anxiously and watching closely to see if her therapy is taking effect. It's very comforting. She's quite accurate as well; if that cat is clingy when I am going to bed, it's a good bet that I'll be calling in the next morning.

The other shows no preternatural awareness of sickness, but is a fairly effective pager. She doesn't meow; she beeps. Usually for breakfast.

Troll has stunningly delicious leg. How else will I ever earn a chance to see more?
