Given that Lit/AH is a form of Social Network, with a specific audience/membership, do you belong to any others?

Why? What do they give you that you can't get on Lit/AH, apart from family/friends with whom you might not care to share your predilection.

I ask because I'm continually 'invited' to join SN's and cannot see any reason to do so other than to see my name contained in a list of thousands.

No member names!

I used to post on many boards on AOL. It's not that they gave me something that Lit couldn't so much as it's now that Lit gives me something AOL can't...as in...intelligent conversation and debate...

AOL's boards became increasingly riddled with people who had horrible vendettas against other people and would contaminate every single thread trying to "rid" the boards of each other. :(

I got so sick of it that I left in December and haven't been back.

I'm also on MySpace, but everyone I have as friends are friends IRL, or family. I don't have any friends there that I ONLY met online.

I post, as myself, on Facebook. It's a great way for me to share all my photos with my RL friends and family, and to keep in touch with them in a casual way. It also acts as a birthday reminder and lets me know when something momentous has happened in their lives (new partner, holiday, graduation etc...). My Facebook profile is very family friendly, though, in every sense of the phrase and I like it that way.

I use myspace and facebook both primarily for my writing but i do have a few real life friends on my facebook ,too. I use them as tools, really and don't enjoy them half as much as I enjoy lit.

I've got a couple of other places I hang at: Sooey's, Romance Divas, and recently, Bondage.com.

Lit holds a special place though. :)

I use facebook for keeping up with school events. And to play scrabble. :D

I'm on myspace but don't like it or use it as much as facebook. I'm on orkut too, but kind of abandoned it after an ex found me there.

Facebook is kind of cool. But not as cool as Lit of course. It's just fun to play, no discourse or connection like on Lit.

I'm antisocial and I don't network. But, I do love pornographic and violent stories, so I like to spend time here.

I am on Myspace but don't really use it. i don't think I have ever met anyone on my friends list. There used to be someone from my high school on that list, but she bailed on me for some reason unknown to me.

I'm partial to Live Journal. I have accounts on Facebook, MySpace and Blogspot, but LJ is my favorite. I've met some great friends there who have similar interests. I think it's like any other social networking thing, you have to want to meet people, unless you have an already established group of online or real life friends there.

It does give me something Lit doesn't, an escape from the drama and conflict that arises here on occasion. I'm not saying there's no drama on LJ, but a lot of it is confined to communities, which I'm not really involved in.

I network constantly but in real life, face to face, because many of my friends and contacts are not computer literate.

Facebook - keep in touch with friends from the real world (i.e. the people who don't know I'm a pervert, hehe), even "re-meeting" people. What it does do which I like is have little games like chess and scrabble that you can play with your mates. For example, my pal who emigrted to China, I play chess with him regularly.

Lit - don't use it so much as a social tool to be honest, more something to do. It's nice to meet people here, but it is seperate to my real life and I doubt I'll meet many people from here in reality.

AdultFriendFinder - to find people to have group sex with. Not sure it's classed as social networking, but then wouldn't categorise lit as a social networking site tbh.

I have a thing on live journal. It's mostly to vent. I like coming here because, I like sex, and well, this is the only place that i've found that I can talk about it freely with others without getting the wierd looks I would in real life. ( I live in an area where kissing is liable to get you a fine for social indecency.)

I also have a live journal (didn't know that counted until after I posted), but I have a dwindling list of friends. It used to just be people I knew in real life, and then they dropped out and forumers took their place, and then they dropped out and I have no idea if anyone reads it anymore.

I have a livejournal and only one person i know knows about it and thats fine by me *L* I use it to vent more than anything. It's the closest thing i have to a diary these days.

Facebook (to keep tabs on my wife)
MySpace (to keep tabs on my kids)
LinkedIn (in case I get a job one day)

all as Real Me

Only one other person on Lit knows my "Real Me" ID's.

I forgot FriendsReunited and GenesReunited.

I'm only on both as the real me.

You belong here, Neon.

I belong to many, most of which I never post to.

Lets see...

Facebook is the biggest one right now. I also still check in on Myspace occasionally. I like All of Facebook's applications. My favorites are Superheroes, Scrabulous, Likeness, Flikster movies, and Lil' Green Patch.

Forums:
There's TFW2005 (Transformers fan/news site)
Nintendo.com
A Final Fantasy fan forum
A video game rom/emulator forum (for downloading roms)
Several MUGEN related forums (To find out when new characters or stages have come out, or when current works have been updated)
The G4 forum

And Lit of course.

I've been on several but most of them are hobby sites. Come to think of it, so's this one. It's just that here people will flirt with me instead of asking for recipes.

On Recipezaar.com you can do both. Until they ban you :(

I'm on myspace. I'm not sure why though. My husband is on my friends list, so I can't use the blog to vent when I need to. :(

I have a blogspot account, but it's just used for writing. Honestly, I don't know how to blog properly.

I used to have a LJ, but like I said, I don't do blogging well, so I ended up just letting it die.

I do myspace. Primarily I talk to the single person I still keep in touch with from high school, and old coworkers in AZ. But I hardly ever go. Though I DID finally add Shawn and Gus from Psych :D
