Lets say you live in a big apartment building. You see new people moving in, They just happen to be 3 young middle eastern men that fit the profile. Should you be concerned? would you be able to go to bed at night wondering if the building was gona blow up?Do you believe the latest releases from the government saying that this is a possibility? Would you contact the authorities?

they just moved in next to me
noisy bastards
gonna go to war if they dont SHUT THE FUCK UP !!!!!

Of course not.

What's the profile? Eastern? Muslim? That's awful.

I live in Scotland. I don't call the police if an Irish family move in next door.

I'd honestly be nervous, but the key is not to overreact. Just get to know them and make a better judgement. Bring 'em a cake! lo

I just finished watching a story about this on nbc. It's so hard to say. I like to think that I am not a prejudice person, however now we have the American Government telling us that we need to be. I think I would just have to use common since, pay attention to my surroundings, and what others are doing in those surroundings. I think if we all did this we would not only be able to stop potentially dangers acts, but we may be able to help others in need.

But for now I'll just be thankful I don't live in an apt.

When it's your time to go, it's your time to go.

What could you do? Call the police, "Yeah, some Muslims moved in, I'm skeered!". Uh huh.

there are no al quaeda to be found in afghanistan, they are all sneaking in to britain on the eurostar and claiming political asylum about 70% of all illegal immigrants found coming in that way are young afghan males

So you honestly think any Middle Eastern person is a threat to your child?

You could talk to the manager of your complex. I'm sure s/he had the same thoughts when they rented the apartment. Wouldn't hurt to find out what s/he knows. It might settle your qualms a little?

Keep your eyes and ears open, but
Try to get to know them better.
It's difficult (and super stressful) moving into a new place,
especially being "middle-eastern" in these times.
Hopefully, they'll prove you wrong.

They can't all be terrorists. :rose:

I'd think it was funny. Finally someone that speaks worse Spanish than me is moving into La Raza.

Mis huevos en su boca.

not at all, i posted the question because of all the hysteria over the weekend about the possibility of terrorists renting and then blowing up buildings. i wanted to see what others thought,if they would be concerned.

Until 9-11 many American's used to fund the IRA - not out of evilness, just through a lack of understanding of what was going on in Ireland. I don't think there's any case of anyone panicing when Americans moved in next door.

You do have every right to be concerned.

But I can't think of any other attitude you could have. What can you do? Seriously?

I'm not going to go into paranoia mode every time I see a foreign face in the neighborhood. I'm not going to live my life in fear. The chances are just as good that you could be killed in an intersection, on the roller coaster, walking home in a thunder storm.

I'm not going to assume anothers guilt before I even know them.

I suppose I'm just naive.

I'm not American. I think American support for Irish terrorism has tailed off now that more understand that the IRA kill people, are terrorists and were working with FARC.

I wouldn't be concerned in the slightest. They are just people. Also, the middleeast is such an obvious scape goat I sometimes wonder the validity of the accusations by the government (it could have been someone else responsible, definitely).

We only scare the Scots. Doesn't get much press.

I know. Afghans aren't even Middle Eastern.

Oh, whatever. Geography really isn't my subject. Still, I am pretty skeptical of anything our government says, what with all the crap that has been happening recently.

Go on, Bill "I did not have" Clinton turned it over to George Enron Bush, what's not to trust?

I believe a lot of the support for the IRA came from the Boston area especially the fund raising part of it. It was never a national issue.

Yeah, exactly. I don't much care whose mouth Clinton is screwing, but I absolutely abhor Bush. Mr. Bloody "They Misunderestimated Me". What a fucktard.

I am not too worried

heres why... In my building i have too many single mothers depending on the child support from their "deadbeat ex's" and we all have to hear about it when the two timing bastard is late. Or the 2 hommy G white boys who will go GHETT-HO on someones azz if they Touch their shit, let alone blow up their collection of Vanilla ice, and P Diddy CDs. Not to mention the italian family that has people going in and out it all diddly damn day long. Or the old woman who scares the kids by quoting the bible when she tells them to not play with their toys in the hall. Or even the other people who don't stand out too much in my building who you see maybe once or twice a week. The nice people who hold the door while you bring up your groceries or that always say hello. Or the other muslim guy in the building who basicly told anyone who asked why would someone do such a thing? He explained islam and how the people who did this are in hell. So bring on the terrorists, i'd like to see them get past the security gaurd in our building too.....(After 9-11 the guy adopted a retied bomb sniffing dog to keep him company so i kinda feel safe.)
