So you think you're tough? Let me introduce you to a couple of people who are tough. (They know I'm posting this by the way. Hell they even picked the names I'll be using for them here.)

The first is Donna. She was born and lived on a Caribean Island until she was ten years old. She then moved to New york City with her parents. There she went through High School and fought to stay out of the local gangs. She watched her brother killed in Gang Warfare. (She herself was hit not once but twice by rounds that missed their targets.) She graduated near the bottom of her class but she did graduate. She took on jobs, giving money to her parents even as she put herself through the local community college. She eventually graduated from the college with a Nursing Degree. She moved to south Florida and got married. Her Husband developed a Blood disease. He is surviving even though he is in and out of the hospital. She is still working and taking care of people and to me this makes her even more efficent as a Nurse. (Not to mention even more empathic.)

The other is Tanya. (R. Richard you'll hate her.) She grew up in a high society family. She had social obligations, she had her parents money and prestige. At the age of 19 one of her friends was killed by a drunk driver. At the age of 25 her brother was killed in an armed robbery. She got married to a Stud Puppy who turned out to be an abuser. She got free of him after a couple of years of hell, (her parents supported him and not her.)

Sh decided to make a difference. She put herself through school again, this time without her parents help. She got a second degree, this one in Crminal Justice. When she graduated this time she got a job with the local Police Department. At the end of the year she applied to and was accepted by the local Sherriffs Department. She was placed, at her request, to patrol some of the worst areas of our county. She dealt with the Pimps, the Gang Bangers and more importantly the Prostitutes and the Beaten. She became the champion of the women in those areas. She has become the counties expert on Abuse and Rape. She also has both the highest arrest rate and highest conviction rate for these crimes. She has earned her scars and her medals.

I wanna hang out with Cat and some of his friends. Maybe some of his coolness will rub off on me. It seems you attract the same kind of people you are, Cat. Kudos to you.

Now who said these are friends of mine? (Well one of them is,,,,,,)

As for my being cool, I and many others would debate that. (Hell many here would debate that.)

These are however people that I do respect.

Always good to hear success stories, Cat.

Thanks.

Isn't it though? There are too many people who make it through hell and are never mentioned simply because good news is not reportable. (It doesn't sell.)

I don't hate people who do their job. I myself grew up with the pimps, the 'hos' and the gangbangers. It is not a fun environment, although it has improved since Whi' Boy left. I salute those who do their job, even if it is a fuzz job.

Thanks, Cat. Real people, real stories. That's what I live for these days.

It's always good to hear about these kind of things, to see that people are noticed when such as this happens. We need more people like this in the world.

Very nice, Cat. Good to people who put others ahead of themselves instead of just whining about how unfair society is.

People can have such amazing resilience. Have you read Man's Search for Meaning, by Viktor Frankle?
