So, would this violate the Age rule?

Before people hit me with sticks, I'm not protesting the age rule. Not even complaining. I just want to check something. Got bitten by a rampant plotbunny last night (insomnia does wonders for my muse) and wondered if this would be breaking the age rule:

He'd been dreaming of her as long as he could remember - hot, sticky dreams that resulted in him being an expert in cleaning bedlinen before he finished high school. In an attempt to prevent the inevitable, he'd also become a master of the "quick wank before sleep" but that didn't quite seem to work either.

Opinions?

Probably yes.

We're not supposed to even think about it before age 18.

It's Laurel and Manu's rule so only they can say what breaks it BUT they and we need to be really paranoid about no sex under 18. There are many groups in the US who want to close ALL erotic sites down. The no-sex-before-18-rule deflects some of the criticism but Literotica is still at risk.

What is possible in print, what is possible elsewhere, what wouldn't turn a hair in the UK - can attract virulent opposition in the US. Of course, splattering bodies with a heavy machine gun or turning people into mincemeat in a movie is HIGH ART and beyond criticism...

Safer to post it elsewhere.

The dreams might be possible, but still iffy. The mention of going "hands on" is quite likely over the line.

IMHO, it'd pass muster since it only refers to prior incident(s) w/o going into any detail.

One of my stories, BURYING UNCLE HIRAM'S GHOST, concerns an over-18 couple trying to deal with the effects of past child abuse involving the female and her uncle. I discussed the story with Laurel prior to posting and recommend you do the same. As Og indicated, it's their board, their rule, their neck.

that is almost like saying you have talked to God

It seemed that when I had a problem along these lines that I only got to talk to the priest, and they were just enforceing rules for the sake of enforcement to try to stay safe from the censors. I guess you might have read some of the post , " a problem with underage sex" This was about two weeks ago. I used an example to show how the writer who had posed the question could maybe avoid the problem. I went as far as to quote from my story. The next day that story had been pulled. I am still in the process of having it re-posted after deleting every reference to the pass in which the sex had happened.

I will try to stay away from anything that smacks of underage sex since I got hammered by all the priest and ignored by the 'Gods' who run the sight.

I got sick of having to defend myself against the charge of putting the site at risk.

My respect for you soars.

I'll edit out the highschool bit but I want to keep the idea that he's been dreaming of her since he can remember. I'll give it a go and see what's said methinks.

Thanks all :)

Mikey,

That story of mine was submitted three years ago. Things change. It might not be approved today or could be pulled at any moment. I think it's safe to say: NO ONE (writers, readers, owners) LIKES THIS SITUATION. It's frustrating and especially tough when you've written a story that mentions some previous incest experience but doesn't focus on that subject.

Maybe he was held back a year and had an early september birthday. That way he could be a Junior and still be legal at 18.

Would help but I'm not American and don't even pretend to understand that school system.

That makes it worse.

... End of Uni! There we go :)

Youngsters for the first 17 years 364 days of their lives have never heard of sex, then get lain on their 18th birthday. Isn't that right?

That was a good anime, but it wasn't rated R. I think they could get Lain on their 13th birthday.

I think omitting the high school reference is a good idea.

I agree, better safe than sorry. You might also want to think about replacing high school with something a little more "age reference" vague. Something that would tell the reader he's at least eighteen, but could also be 19, 20, 21; kind of like a puritanical buffer zone of sorts. Anyways, it sounds like the makings of a hot story - go for it.

I wouldn't know. I didn't exist until I was 18 either :D

There is only one "Get Out of Jail Free" loophole I'm aware of concerning "under-age" characters and sex. As I understand the rules and regs, US high school seniors are considered "of age."

Yes, the typical senior doesn't turn 18 until after January 1, of their last year in h/s. And yes, some seniors are much younger (my wife-unit was 15 when she began her senior year). There are also students, 18 or older, who haven't reached their senior year. Be that as it may, if a character is a h/s senior, they may be treated as being 18 or older, unless the writer is such a single-digit IQ, running dumb-ass they include the character's exact age.

If I recall that thread correctly, Mikey, it wasn't so much what you said, but how you said it that got you so much attention.

I've seen much more questionable stuff get by and end up in posted stories.

It might be questionable to the letter of the rule, but it seems to quite safely fall well within acceptable by the spirit of the rule (i.e. "potentially covering their asses legally")

I was 17 and 6 1/2 months old when I graduated and I dont think I was the youngest in my class. I believe there was someone who was like 2 months younger than me but everyone else was at least 18. They all had sex lives but I didnt...not for another 5 1/2 months lol.

I was 17 when I graduated, 17 when I moved out and got my own apartment, and 17 when I started college. :D

Just a thought... you could call your character "Bill Clinton" and just give him blow jobs.

"I did not have sex with that woman!" :D
