So whatever happened to self indulgence?

I remember the days when diet books were unknown, restraint was unheard of and you were considered a wimp if you so much mentioned the word 'salad'.

So what's gone wrong?

Where are all the happy-go-lucky, devil-may-care people who would open a choc bar with a smile and tuck into a T-Bone steak laughing with pleasure?

I look around and I find the world's been invaded by Stick Insects. Forget your Body Snatchers. This is for real.

And have you noticed that if you ever go into a health store (brrr! even the name gives me the shudders) there are rows upon rows of health foods displayed in dinky little wrappers, boxes and tubes designed to give you a balanced (brrr!) diet: and then, at the checkout desk there are literally piles of vitamin pills designed to give you the proper vitamin intake that the health foods don't provide...

Naahhh. I'm glad I was born when I was.

I enjoy what I eat and I eat what I want.

To hell with Stick Insects...

"everything in moderation - including self denial"

:D

I don't want to be a stick insect. (Damn memories are now flooding back. 10 I was when my uncle let loose a stick insect in our house and it ended up my Sunday dress. *shudder*)

I love Summer. Salads, coleslaw and BBQ's with the T bone steaks, sausages and bacon chucked on. Mmmmm. Yummy.

All things in moderation is best. :)

Health shops have their uses. I have developed a respect for natureopathic/homeopathic remedies but will pass on the tofu thanks. Each to their own.

:)

I totally agree, p p man. I consider myself indulgent. I always found that to be a good thing. It's not only that people seem afraid to be too indulgent, but they don't look on it fondly. Suckers, they dunno what they're missing.

When you think about it...

to be self indulgent is one of the most natural things in the world.

If you like it - have it. Your body will soon tell you if you've had enough.

We don't need experts to tell us when we're going to throw up!

:D

But seriously.

With some of us our bodies have already said NO.

Cadbury's Plain chocolate,sigh

No-one's going to step in here and say 'hell I enjoy living on lettuce and pills' are they? Well I'm not going to either.

I am a young man and I love red meat, meat pies with succulent pastry, and chocolate in all of it's delicious varieties. White's a personal fave.

The thing about 'healthy eating' is that it is a regime. And nothing good gets called a regime.

Btw. I do know that a varied diet is essential for good health (I do like fruit and veg.) along with an active enough lifestyle. But there's good health and there's fashionable malnutrition.
