So we're getting a Mendards here

Wisconsin company, still owned by the family. I am there about every day, we have a Home Depot next door and Menards gets more business. They tend to be incredibly knowledgable and the prices are fair. If you enjoy the rebate this is your store.

What's the rebate?

What's the rebate?

They tend to do mail-in rebates on popular products, they add up fast. I'm there for work and I usually get about $50 back every couple of weeks from the products I buy.

I hate mail-in rebates.

I prefer them over Lowes and Home Depot. Mostly out of habit, and because they are 2:12 minutes away, while Lowes is 7:08 minutes away, and Home Depot is 9:47 minutes away.

I used to shop there for everything home-related, because they are family-owned and put a priority on American-made products. Then they donated an obscene amount of money to Scott Walker's gubernatorial campaign, so I stopped shopping there. Now I go either to the local DoIt center or to Ace. Not that I have any money to spend on home improvement anymore, since Walker gave me a nice pay cut.

(As a side note, yes, I do believe they have every right to donate to whatever cause they choose. I also have the right to choose who gets my money, and they aren't getting any more of it.)

Slogan: Save big money at Menards. There a lot when we remodeled our home.

of all the big box lumber yards i prefer lowes. seems the best run. menards has a wacky ad campaign but it has an actual yard, which can be good or bad depending if you need a couple 2x4s and you have to go thru the guard shack. home depot is a ghost town. it's better than nothing i guess.

I realized tonight at work why I prefer Menards. The merchandising doesn't seem crammed in the shelf. It's more open compared to Home Depot and Lowes, where is seems every possible square inch is crammed full of stuff. It just looks cluttered at Home Depot and Lowes.

Menards is fine for most things but don't buy lumber there. Better off getting that from Lowes or Home Depot.
And who the fuck has never heard of Menards?

Me (other than I know of a Mendards that sponsors a NASCAR car that never finishes a race).

It must be a fly-over state thing.

I rebuilt my deck. My neighbor rebuilt his deck.

I got my lumber from Home Depot.

He got his from Menards.

The wood in my deck is warping and it basically sucks.

The wood in my neighbors deck still looks brand new a year later with no treatment.

So your neighbor got treated lumber and you didn't. That has nothing to do with the store.

Nice try. They were both done using treated lumber.

Home Depot can suck it!!!!

Home Depot does suck. I don't go there. However their lumber is superior to Menards.
If your boards are warping after a year it's because you used the wrong wood or installed them improperly.

all i know is once the menards opened here in my shitty town the home depot turned into a ghost town.

Because Home Depot pretty much sucks all the way around. Higher prices than the others, shitty service and shady looking migrant workers hanging out in front.

also, they keep their fans in the garden center for some damned reason.

Or graded the yard under the deck badly.
