How do you cope?
Are there bad coping skills that you tend to fall back on?
Do you have any good coping skills that work well for you?

When I am stressed I play poker online. I get to caught up in my game to think of my problems.

A bad and good one is writing, because it can help, but also make you even more stressed.

Ride a motorbike...

If you survive the first 30 minutes, you will have forgotten about all your troubles, by the time you get off.

If you don't survive the first 30 minutes, you will have forgotten about all your troubles, so whatever way it works, it works!

Go for a drive, walk on the beach, wack off, look at porn, clean my apartment seems like I do more than that....

denial is vastly underrated as a coping strategy.

I have a lot of problems with stress. Some nights I don't sleep. I was told to work out and change my diet. It helps, but I still have those days where I need many beers to get rid of the stress.

Try AA meetings, lots of Nymphs hide out there.

I stick to the net every spare minute I have and just surf around.
Sort of gettaway.

And it helps sometimes if you chat with complete strangers....... they can show you the things from different angle and that is something I need to get myself out of whatever it is....... in general it helps very much.

Particularly plausible deniability.:D

So Bi, did I ever tell you the story about my cat, two ferrets and half a pound of lard, hmm I bet i didn`t, pity really, it`s a great story, a little bit weird perhaps but quite amusing really.
... oh my goodness I seem to have wandered of topic......
Yes you have been Quolljacked. :D

Humour is good for stress relief, if I find anything funny I`ll let you know.

If something is stressing me out, I try to think if there is anything I can do about it right now. If there is I do it. If there isn't I give it to God and get on with my day. Works for me.

Eating is one of my bad stressy habits. Years ago I was a cutter...

I have a website and a blog, so writing is one way for me to vent stress. Sometimes I splurge and treat myself to a manicure, pedicure, or massage. Going for hikes and getting fresh air usually help as well. Video games can also be good - they at least help me zone out and not think about things for a while. Reading has a similar effect. When things are really bad, getting away for a weekend can be a huge relief.

Interesting Thread

It's nice to see how others deal with stress. Great thread in these stressful times. ;)

I tend to deal with stress pretty well for the most part. I have a lot of stress in my life (those who know me know) yet I am fortunate that I can bottle it up or channel it in a positive way till it either dissipates or till I get a chance to relax. Unfortunately, this past year has been full of stress for me.

When I need to unwind, I usually head out to the lake house to get away from it all. Nothing like getting out on the boat and chillin with the cleansing warmth of the sunshine, some tunes and a cold beer. It has been a life safer over the years.

I also have a wonderful network of a few very close friends. Friends that are there for me no matter what or when. For them, I am eternally grateful. They have been the best through thick and thin.

Can I ask if the urge to cut ever comes back, and what you do about it?

Its true, humor is a good stress relief. :) Thats why I love hanging out with my sister, we can laugh over the stupidest things for hours.

And, I feel so priviledged to have been Quolljacked. :D

haha, unfortunately I'm upset when frequently when I'm stressed - so then isn't always the best time to masturbate. :p

Isn't that technically a coping strategy though...? Hmm.

(Okay, I'm done replying to people for the moment. Now someone else post so I'm not continually talking to myself, hehe. :D)

I clean like a madwoman when I'm stressed...Everyone who comes into my house knows when I've had a bad day. There is the smell of bleach in the air and the walls are so white they will blind you :)

Will you come clean my room when you get stressed? :D

i find that working myself into a frenzy about the source of my frustration for a few minutes, then rebuilding the arguments about why the frustration isn't, in the larger scheme, too important to be a helpful too, but perhaps that's just me.

working out in the gym is a very healthy way to release your tension and also had benifits.

the bad ways are of course vegetating in from of the Tv with piles of junkfood around you
