So it should open around 8901 giving redwave his first boner since he watched a shoplifter at the Everything for a Dollar store.

Predictions for the close today?

I'll say 9022.

But I still FIRMLY believe that we must test 7,000. That's when my money goes back in...

Another 9/11 in the next few weeks and we probably would test 7000.

But a lot of what you're hearing in the press about the economy is pre-election negativity. The kind you find daily on the socialist web site.

I don't find it daily on the socialist websites!

How dare you hurl such a damning accusation ;) ...

dow

I'll try 8900, lots of big names holding the bag here. Got to be some further soul-searching as to the system as a whole.

We all forgot the one consistent at the end of a bad day(s).

The short sellers had to make a profit too...

short sellers

Was that a cynical remark?

Overall though not much reaction. Is this 'Enron syndrome' factored in?

In every market, there are people willing to bet it will go down. They buy stocks (called shorting) when they go down having a promise from third party to buy them at a higher, previously agreed, to price.

At least that's my understanding. I tend to buy and hold for the long-run except when one can see troubles looming. The trick is the guessing...

It is easy to be cynical as we are seeing the end-game to a culture based on moral relativism. As I quoted a teacher in another thread,

“When there are no standards, any standard will do.”

If no one is allowed to point out bad, or improper behavior, then you get politicians run amuck, business leaders, community leaders, priests, etc. Now if you cannot trust any of these people, who can you trust.

This is what Enron, Global crossing, and now Worldcom have come to mean to me…

Who is this "all" you allude to?
