Is this because incest *is* taboo, or because the category's being expanded to included diverse other forms of taboos as well...?

Not on this site, no. I mean, it *is* taboo, but you can't post stories about it in the Taboo category, for legal reasons. I assume that much hasn't changed in the last few days!

So, having been added to the Incest category, it must either refer to other taboos, or mean that incest is *the* major taboo...

Maybe the site administrators hope to bring in more readers by waving the word "Taboo" around...?

No, you're still way off! It has to be something that violates a very specific (though perhaps unwritten) law that everybody in a given culture normally abides by. Your latest suggestion would be outrageous and scandalous, but it wouldn't constitute a taboo. A taboo is a general consensus in the population about not doing something that society at large generally considers offensive.

Taboo sex is something that violates a law or custom; essentially any sexual relationship where either or both partners can go to jail or lose their job for indulging.

I suspect the expansion is to include mostly "sex with authority figures" stories -- i.e. sex with teachers, preachers, judges, and jailers.
