How come there isn't a stroker/pure smut category? Now I'm not calling for a category with lower standards. It's just that sometimes I'm in the mood for something well written, yet quick-finger worthy, and others times I want a slow build leading to a drawn out climax. It just seems that by lumping both types of stories together, it does a disservice to their respective merits. There are always people putting down one type because they happened to be looking for the other.

What do you think?

But then you would have to specify 'stroke' categories for all, or nearly all, of the existing ones. Stroke EC, Stroke Incest, Stroke Anal, etc . . .

The Category page is long enough, I think . . . .

The stroke stories are easy enough to track. That's all some writers write. Most of us don't. So, when you find a story that's "finger lick'n good", just keep track of the author. ;)

Good point.

Although, maybe Lit could put something like a red 'S' next to purely stroke stories, as requested by the author.

That's a great idea, Slyc.

I think that would be a cool idea to have an "S" behind a story similar to the "hot", "winner", and so on...but who would be the one to decide if it was a "stroke" story? The author? Maybe something extra in the votes that qualifies a story as "strokable"?

Then again, what is a "stroke" story by everyone's definition? Short, one scene stories? Stories that get you off regardless of the length? Etc...

That's why I think it would depend on the author's request to put the 'S' there. Jenny said above that many writers on this site write only stroke pieces. But I write both. I'm sure I have fans that want to see more 'jack-off material' from me, and probably read through stories like 'I Believe' and 'Spirit Of Love' and end up a little disappointed.

If I coul designate a story as a stroke piece, I'd definitely do so.

I would say a stroke story is no more than 2-3 pages and concentrates on the sex, not the characters. If there's bumping and grinding going on before you get halfway down the page, it's a stroke piece.

Yeah, I've been doing that. I guess I'm just lazy.

And I think lisofanangel's idea is pretty good. I know if I ever get comfortable in my writing, I'd like to write both types of stories. Being able to mark them as such would be helpful.

Well, it's past my bedtime. (Meaning it's time to look for a stroke story to help me relax enough to sleep  )

Two Words --- "Key Words"

Just use stroke stroke stroke finger stroke.... etc. Stroke fans could search them out then.

To be perfectly honest, CeriseNoire isn't alone. Every story I've posted for the past 7 or 8 months I get a bitch email asking why there isn't any sex in my stories.

Answer's easy

a) Sex isn't funny. Not getting sex is funny.
b) The characters never seem to get around to it.

I still think it's a good idea no matter how the "S" is determined. Not sure how new changes have come about in Lit in the past, or even if this request by each author is doable, but it would be neat to see.

I like the idea of having the option to add an "S" for stroke to stories at the time of submission. I think it will narrow down things for the pure strokers, and possibly redirect a lot of those "not enough sex" comments.

This is one that surely needs to be dropped in the official suggestion box.

Wouldn't be difficult to add. New column in the database, default it to "No". Add a line to the submission form ( and possibly a line to the form for editing stories, so the S could be added to older work ). A couple of data check lines, a couple of display lines, and done.

All a matter of whether the additional bandwidth to display the image, and process the forms is within parameters. While both would be tiny, they could add up real quicklike with the number of stories.

Other possible markers:

'L' for a long story (4+ pages)

'D' for some disturbing content (I got some blasting comments after Ch. 5 of Pretty Baby, even though I warned readers ahead of time).

That may be one thing that could dissuade making the change - it does sort of lead to lots of similar suggestions.

Probably just get redirected to use the keywords for this purpose.

Hmm, true. Sorry . . . i was impressed with my own creativity for a moment :D

I put a disclaimer at the start of my strokers saying that it's just a ''short piece of smut".

I think that should be enough.

You'd think it should *laugh* Too many people skip any notes you put at the beginning. Then they wonder why they're offended or dissapointed by what you tried to warn them about :p

That doesn't help those looking for a quick fix track down the stories that meet their needs with ease, however. The S would let strokers find those without any guesswork, and avoid all the silly plot and stuff that hides the sex in everything else.

Yeah, it seems quite a few readers skip through the words until they find 'cock' or 'pussy.' Then they stop scrolling and start reading.

And those characters are starting to bitch about it, too. ;)

Maybe for people who are looking to read a specific author, but if you're just trawling through the categories, how do you pick a stroker on the index page?

I think the idea of "S" is great. Or, alternatively, telling the reader how many pages the story goes for. Several times I've started to read and gotten to the bottom of page one to see it's a seven page story and clicked away because I don't have enough time to read something that long. Or been looking for a long story and come up with a single pager.

I think Jenny's right. I write mainly stroke stories, and this is well known. Once in a while, I write something that is not just stroke, and I usually include a comment to that effect at the front of the story. If there is something that might be disturbing to some persons, like a woman using a strapon on a man's ass, or a fetish that some might find disgusting, I write that fact in a paragraph also.

New authors do not have a reputation yet, but they would quickly develop one, if their stories are good stroke. New readers would not have favorites, but they would devolop them quickly. One problem with having an author designaye stories as "Stroke" is that is is subjective. I remember reading stories in the fifties and early sixties that were thought of as being stroke stories. Compared to what I wrote, those old strokers would be like stories to be read aloud in a Sunday school class. :D

Yup!

I don't really know which of my stories are 'stroke' until I am told they are!
