In New Zealand lollies are any sort of candy....which confused my son's Canadian girlfriend because she thought we were talking about lollipops....

We had sugar coated soft sweets in fruit flavours, they are called "fruit Jubes".... love the things... suck the sugar coating off and then chew into the soft fruit flavour.
