Mine didn't hurt at all. The girl that did it was good.

I wasn't told I couldn't use it for 3 months. I was told to not let anyone else play with it or anyone else's body fluids come in contact with it for 2 weeks. Just for infection reasons. I've had it for almost 2 years and it's still fun to play with.
