Yup. The board of directors pushed me one step too far and I told them to shove their CD's up their asses.

Ok I didn't go that far, but I did walk out. So I no longer work in radio. At least not now. Who knows? Maybe I'll check out the commercial side. Odds are I'll just end up doing the same thing for another nonprof though.

But I'm not in any hurry. I'm thinking some time off might be just the thing I need. lol

They wanted you to DJ naked?

Seriously - what happened?

Good for you! I am glad you stood up for yourself. DJ or not I still think you are wonderful!

Saying what really happened would give away a bit more info than I care to. Basically they wanted to take advantage of my generosity forgetting, as they have been doing WAY too much lately, that I was an employee despite the fact that most of my pay check went back to them and NOT a volunteer. They don't see the difference, I do.

So I told them to find someone else to deal with the beurocracy and backstabbing. I'm not interested.

So I'm going to redecorate my bathrooms. lol I have a great idea for the sinks!

So they didn't want you to DJ naked? If I were your manager, that's what I would have done.

Sunny.....you have a very nice voice....Perhaps see about doing voice overs.
I have thought about it myself, and have always been told I have a great voice for audio.
Im sure you have probably cut some commercials before perhaps......and you at least have many demo tapes and certainly some contacts in the industry.

Just a thought.....:)

I remember beefing with the program directors when I had a college radio show. They pissed me off so bad I stormed out of the meeting and, later that night, announced over the air that I was quitting and the station brass could all go suck a dick!

Of course, all the fans wanted me to come back but I had to stay away. It was the principle of the thing.

Someone willing to give up a job over some principle, even a 'selfish' one? That's pretty damned impressive, at least to me.

Are you sure they didn't tell you that you have a great FACE for radio?
;)

Oh wow sunny! Good luck, sounds like you did what was best for you.

What does that mean? My reasons for giving up my job were not selfish.

Beefcake it's radio. lol No one would know if I broadcast naked. Plus I wasn't a fulltime DJ. lol I was administration.

Killswitch, thanks hon. I used to think about books on tape, but theses are all things you really need to live in a city like Boston or New York for. I was a city kid, but I don't think I could go back to it. Plus my husband has just started his own company here and it's been a dream of his for years. Your suggestions were good though.

Correction - none of your listeners would know!

Actually, I think this was a reply to my post. I guess you looked over it which is good because I noticed that I had misspelled "principle". It's been corrected now.

No honey it was in response to Johnny Mayberry. lol I even quoted him.

Never apologise to me about spelling. lmao Check the title.

I don't know about that; you may not get gigs for mainstream voiceovers, but voiceover opportunities exist in just about any city. I used to work for a small startup and we produced two video tapes for our products, one a tutorial another a marketing tape - both had voiceovers and talking heads. Explore the opportunities - if you wish.

I put selfish in quotes for a reason....I meant 'selfish' as in 'looking out for your own interests, and not letting others take a dump in your shoe', not 'selfish' as in 'screw you guys, I'm getting mine, even at everyone else's expense'. I wasn't trying to be rude, and I really am impressed...most people whine and bitch about their job, but never follow through and quit the damned thing!

now you have more time to continue your volunteer work at the local supermarket...

Heretic, I might look into it, but I dont' work near any city. lol Cape Cod is very specialized and I know nothing like that exists down here. LIke I said, I'll most likely just use my puter and organizational skills for another nonprof.

Johnny, thanks I just wanted to be sure.

Ram, I can't talk to you right now I'm getting ready to fake my death.

Sunny, congrats for sticking up for yourself!

I forgot that you lived on the Cape. I'm moving pretty close to there next week. Any good sites you can recommend?

LOL
