So I left the house at 4:30...took 2 hours to get ALMOST (please note the word...ALMOST) to the border...I then sat in my car at a dead standstill for another 2 hours...moving maybe 1/2 mile in total....

At 9 pm, I thought...ok, fuckit...I am goin home! So here I be! What did I miss?

Thank god for laptops...I at least got a ton of work done that I had been putting off!

You ALMOST get to the border after waiting two hours. TWO HOURS! and you give up?? I waited closer to twelve before I got across. You wuss!:p :D

Isn't it getting ridiculous?

WARNING!!

yes i am a wuss....and so fricking what??????

I had another 3 hours to drive, and I hadn't eaten...

so I think I need a drink!;)

Careful! See what drink has done to p.p.man? We wouldn't wish the same for you! :p

Don't say I didn't tell you. And once you get to the crossing point they are being very anal about who they let across.

Fix your hair next time brat, then you won't look like a terrorist!

:p :D

so BC, what lesson did we learn here? Always listen to Mom, always have a packed lunch/meal just in case you get stranded. Oh, and don't forget the clean underwear part either.

Next Time

There are lots of little used forestry roads that cross the border, you just have to head inland a little ways... and no traffic at all:eek:

I know...and I picked a long weekend to try.
Mind you...I just KNOW they would have let me across!!:p
Well maybe - maybe not; do you have any references? ;)

Unless, of course, you told them that I hang out here where strange threads are started in code, STG!;)
While I will admit to knowing people who are in Customs, you never got to the border so you will never know whether I made a little phone call to them or not - will you? :)

If you had gone inland a little to the Richmond (?), or even the truck crossing, the line probably wouldn't have been as long. I once waited an hour to get back across the border at the main I-5 crossing, and while that was on a Sunday night, it was years ago before they were paranoid about terrorists.

Unless you want to spend some time in jail that is not a good idea. Plus, most of those roads have been purposely closed and sensored to prevent illegal travel either way. You wouldn't think it would be that bad going north since Canada is more lax than the USA, but what you can cross northbound you can cross southbound and the US has shut that down for the most part in Washington.

I once spent the better part of a day in eastern Washington on a dirt bike trying to find anything, a road, even a trail that I could ride across into Canada and it is a lot harder than you think.
