I feel like I'm the last one in the world to find all these little things.

Apparently Anne Rice (under another name of course), the author of The Vampire Chronicles etc... one of my favorite writers.... writes erotica.

She takes the story of Sleeping Beauty and puts a lovely BDSM twist on it. I read the first book of the "trilogy" in a few hours, and half way through the second book... I took it with me to lunch, and a trip to the hospital, I stuffed it in my pocket, I couldn't let it go... I love her writing.

Discuss, comments ?
sorry ahead of time if this thread topic has been beaten dead.

I don't know if it's been beaten dead, but alot of us found ourselves by discovering that those stories turned us on.

The books are great fantasy.

I'm halfway through the second book. I read the first one in one sitting, but i'm bogged down in the second.

For some reason, i really don't care about the characters anymore.

What she said!

And Des is correct. They are fantasy and only fantasy. This is not reality in D/s relationships. I think too many new submissives get the impression that this is what it is like. That's far from the truth. We have jobs, kids, responsibilities, etc. These books do not portray reality.

The second book did the same to me as well, but the third made up for the dragged out storyline of the second. I just sold my set on eBay too, or I'd reread them again just cause someone brought it up :D

I found the opposite to be true. I had trouble reading the first. I found it sort of boring. The erotica in the second book seems to be much more thrilling to me. I'm currently waiting on the third.

I had the exact same experience as you.

I am glad to see that Navarre and Des have pointed out that fantasy is nothing like reality. There are plenty of young women who I see posting with romantic notions of being someone's love sub. It's easy to set yourself up for failure and heartbreak when your eyes are closed.

I read them when I was 14 and I sped through all three - now I like the 2nd more than the others, though...

How far into it are you bogged?

I thought we had a thread about this not long ago?

I originally discovered the Beauty books by looking in my parents' sex cabinet when they were not at home. I definitely loved them then, but I only ever skipped to the good parts.

About a year ago, my girlfriend picked up the first book for me at a yardsale. I read it all the way through and enjoyed it. I ordered a copy from Amazon and had it sent to Daddy, but I don't think e ever read it.

I think i'm about halfway through the second one. I'm sure i'll finish it, something in me won't let me leave a book half-read.

I think that's part of my problem. Even with a story that is pure fantasy, i want there to be some kernel of reality to keep it grounded.

I don't think anything but failure and heartbreak is possible when your eyes are closed. Or at least that's been my experience.

There are too many princes and princesses. I keep asking... where do they all come from? That point really bothers me. That and when was the last time you saw a painting of beautiful royality in Europe?

I got through the first and second easily. Never did finish the third. I'm too grounded in reality to enjoy such pure fantasy. I hope to finish the 3rd soon though, would like to send my set to ebay too....I can't stand leaving books sitting around when I know someone else could be enjoying them.

Well it's so true!! I'd hate to live in a world filled with so many princesses. One ex-model bulgarian roommate is enough for me.

And thank you, I'll take my cracking you up as a sincere compliment :)

I seem to recall Rice saying that she wanted to write "classy porn".

But then, she also said she wished she had been born male, so she could be gay (specificly male homosexual).

A...........different person, for sure.
