Sixties & Seventies

I tend to consider the 70s and 80s more as a block than the 60s and 70s. In political terms, I suppose, the 70s were more like the 60s, but in cultural terms I think the 70s were closer to the 80s in many ways.

The "adult" culture (those over age 30) in the 60s seems to have been pretty similar to the 50s. It was just the teens and 20-somethings who went all crazy in the 60s and that continued into the 70s (and to this day to some extent). The adult world of the 60s doesn't appear to have been much different from that of the 50s, though that's just what I piece together from watching old TV shows and things like that.

The best of times and the worst of times. Of course, that pales to today's times.

I came of age in the late 60's and early 70's. It was a fun time. Of course there was a huge war and inflation and a couple presidents nobody had any use for and a draft and protests like nobody has seen before or since but it was still fun to grow up and be a young adult then. Free love wasn't all people think it was but it was also everything people think it was. And the weed. Holy cow, it was everywhere and it was good. The music didn't go bad until the late 70's. The fashion...well, I got no excuse.
