Shy slaves shopping thread got me to wondering what it is that you buy to make yourself feel good. It's the thing (or things) that you have more than enough of, but continue to buy more of anyway. With me it's nail polish.

I'll second nail polish, a nice bubble bath, new shampoo, or treating myself to a pedicure. :)

crud. Id idn't even think of the bath stuff.

I picked 'Other' . Lady Godiva Chocolates. *YUM*

(and I have the Cholesterol levels to prove it too)

Other.

I might check out Movies from the library, rent them or buy tickets perhaps, or a few special foods out for a picnic, things like that and oh I need to share them with someone, watch their face light up.

Alone, all I need is a book from the library, a bottle of water (refilled from the tap) my lap top and my cat. I'm happy with that most of the time although maybe some music too would help too.

I rarely spend money on just me though. Back when I was waaaaay down I did buy lunch out with the kids and then the movie I wanted to see, not the movie they wanted to see. We all loved Bewitched too!

I don't either. Spend money on myself too often. But even a bottle of wet and wild nail polish (99 cents) makes me happy. Especially if it's red. :D

I really don't buy anything to lift my spirits. Spending money I don't have never makes me feel better. But I clicked Other because "I don't shop to pick my spirits up" wasn't an option.

I grab a book or come to the forums or go chat or do something around the house that needs doing to lift my spirits.

But if any of y'all wanna lift my spirits, I'll accept power tools, or gift cards from Home Depot, Lowe's, Sears, Ace Hardware.... *grin*

Girly stuff is superb for a quick fix ...especially lipstick , new CD, Oriental Lillys or Orchids , Kimono, Old Sea Shells made into lamps, tons of books, sashimi, Davidoff Long Panatella...............ahem choccy with rum in it .......purrsssssss :catroar:
Oh just realised I am a bit spoilt.......bites lip

I have to explain my "other". Books. I own hundreds of books and my library continues to grow. I love books and desire many more. I WILL eventually break that elusive 1000 number of books.

Several days ago, I responded to a challenge by writing a paragraph in which I described myself submitting for inspection to a Dom. For a variety of reasons, the exercise ended up being very depressing for me.

So I got in my car and drove to my favorite store. (I don't do this often, but it always works like a charm.)

Here's what I bought:

http://*******.com/anlmd

On the outside, I'm a middle-aged woman with a husband, two kids, a dog, and a house in the suburbs. But underneath, I feel like one sexy mama. ;)

God bless Victoria's Secret.

I chose lingerie.

i selected 'other'.

i wouldn't choose makeup/nail polish etc in that i rarely purchase those items. i have a ton of the crap already. And, when i do purchase those items ... He always has input as to exactly which i choose, especially regarding nail polish. Red polish is a daily requirement (no other colors allowed without 'special permission', like the time we had a wedding to attend and the red clashed horribly with the green and turquise skirt and blouse). i only purchase new polish when the bottles of red polish that i already have here get thick and gunky.

Clothing, shoes, fetish wear & toys are out of the picture, too. He chooses/purchases those items for me, according to what He prefers to see me wearing. And, i rarely purchase handbags/purses. i have too many already as it is, and He is always teasing me about how much crap i manage to stuff into them, yet have to dig for hours in order to find anything in them that i actually need at any given moment.

i chose 'other' as in:
haircolor,
books/magazines,
sewing/crochet/craft supplies ,
junk foods (chocolate, pastries, cookies etc)

I chose makeup and girly type stuff, but that depends, really. Sometimes buying a new book is cheaper, and I'm usually the next thing to broke. :p

Sometimes I just buy some chocolate. Or Spree! I love Spree.

Used to be I'd go online and log into my favorite online game, but since I can't do that right now, I find myself getting a lot more makeup and chocolate.... :p

I love books. We all, in this family, love books. We have about 6 bookshelves. When one of the charity groups was looking for books for a sale, we gave them five Banker's Boxes worth.
We still have a few boxes in the garage.
I buy books to pick up my spirits too. There's this card I bought that cost $35 and gives you 10% off books and 30% off hardcover bestsellers, and it paid for itself the first time out. But now it should only cost $10 to renew (maybe $15, I forget)
because I'm a teacher.
I'm trying to get into the habit of buying books, not, say, chocolate, but unfortunately I buy in bulk. When I just need a little pick-me-up, I visit the pharmacy my sister works at. They have books, if not many, and because I'm a family member I get things at cost. :) I'll tell you, the markup on vitamins is amazing!

Other... I'm a music driven person. I get motivated by music, so a new CD is always an awesome way to break out of a funk. Lately, it's been all about Manheim Steamroller.

I'm an other too, a bookworm to be precise. So I go to the used store.

Ohhhhh Miss Snowy I love Preloved Book Stores, such treasures can be found. However I would warn people to be very circumspect about what genre of 'preloved' treasures they purchase . :D

You betcha. I used to spend many of my Saturday afternoons purusing the shelves and stacks at used book stores.

I had to quit. I have far more books than bookcase space.

It just isn't right to store them in boxes, so I stopped.

Books for me too, and CDs, or a facial/haircut and colour. I rarely buy clothes. Master has to practically force me to spend money on myself!

However I'm in the middle of getting my pubic hair lasered and just spent over $1200AU on a crown at the dentist's, and $600AU on car repairs. So my credit card is almost maxed out and I still have to get presents for Xmas

When feeling blue nothing helps cheer me up better than finding a pair of high heeled MaryJane style shoes that looks as if to say "come take me".
