Signing up for the chat part of this site is not working?

Hi, I signed up, but when I load the window it says that I need to register (after I put my details in), and when I try to log on to the edit my profile bit it says 'Unknown user'... Can someone please help me? I think lit is not remembering the username and password I registered?
