SIGN THE PETITION - More Thread Management Options

I have seen too many threads damaged or destroyed by rude or annoying posts. I know some people have left Literotica completely because of trash posted on their threads. Currently there are no tools available to thread owners to manage the content on their own thread. The Moderators will not remove offensive items unless the item violates The Rules. Most offensive language is allowed by the rules, so the Moderators maintain a "hands off" stance. The only option available to a thread owner is to request that the entire thread be remove.

I am starting this petition (poll) to request that the Literotica Management implement new options to enable thread owners to better manage their own thread. Specifically I propose two thread management options:

1) Allow a thread owner the ability to edit any post to their thread.

2) Allow a thread owner the ability to ban specific users from posting to their thread.

I believe it is important to implement both of these changes. The first will allow an owner to mitigate offensive posts, even to the point of deleting the entire content of a post. The second is necessary to stop a disgruntled user or hater from continueing to flame a thread.

Please "Sign the Petition" by selection one of the Poll options. Please vote for option 1, option 2, options 1 & 2, or option 3.

I'm sorry, but you won't get this to pass. The site owners believe in free speech, and that means that the posters can post almost what they want, and where they want. If you grant a thread starter the power to edit other posters post, the free speech is gone out the window.

That said...dearest OP I agree with you on one point. A LOT of good discussions have gone down in flames due to asshats deciding to be rude... But like another poster said, the proposed options could be interpreted as infringing on free speech which could very well drive even more folks away.. Idunno.

On paper this sound like it could potentially be a good idea, but in reality I do feel that what makes this forum great it that you have everything. Even if some of the post are from rude uneducated individuals it still makes this site great. Either ignore their post or educate them.

I would be concerned with people editing a post to say something different. Is this site turning to communism? Censorship is bad especially with a site such as this thread such as this.

Free speech is fully enabled by allowing anyone to create their own thread and rant all they want on their own thread. They can say whatever they want about other threads, other posts, other people, within their own space.

Personally, I do not think that free speech extends to defacing another person's creative work. This is how I see the unwanted trash posted by one person on another person's thread.

I don't consider Lit. AmPics to be your normal, free speech discussion board. There are plenty of those elsewhere on the Internet.

Lit AmPics is a place that many people come to enjoy some safe, naughty fun. Some want a diversion from their every day real life. Some enjoy being an exhibitionist. Others are working on self esteem issues brought on by the harsh value judgments of society.

The "Ignore List" feature does not fully solve the problem.

I know of multiple thread owners that have deleted their thread that they worked years to create, rather that let one repulsive post remain for others to view.

What some consider free speech, I consider the defacement of a person's creative work.

That's up to them really, it's unfortunate that they've chosen to take a nuke to crack a walnut but if ignored the problem poster usually buggers off to find some other site to bother.
Giving it it's own thread like this is tantamount to building it a bomb shelter...

If you want to think of it as defacement their scrawl is no more worth reacting to than a post it note on the venus de milo saying "Dumb sculptor couldn't even do arms, might as well scrap this junk." Their words sink into the depths of the thread as fast as the post it note gets battered and falls off.

Besides the site can't even work out a consistent policy on the more explicit pictures...

I do agree totally with that. I have helped many people with acceptable work-a-rounds for that issue. But that is a different issue, for another discussion.

Tbh I don't think many of the posters on AMP come into TDL very often so not even convinced this will be well noticed by those it would impact. Threads in here oddly seem to mainly get a different set of posters...

I wish this board had a much more effective 'ignore' option, similar to the one on Facebook. I want to 'ignore' someone and never see any evidence of their existence on here and for them to see no evidence of mine.
