#*&^$*^@#^ *sigh of frustration*

This is something I wrote which came up on 5/31: www.literotica.com/s/black-sheep-ch-03 (note this is the third part to a series)

This is something else which came up on the same day: http://www.literotica.com/s/squirting-for-strangers

See the problem?

Whoa, have you contacted laurel?

This is a site mistake not a story thief.

The reason I would say this is not a thief is that they debuted same day, so they obviously submitted when you did.

That means laurel dumped your story into back to back docs, or however she uploads these.

Which means there should be another ticked off author here somewhere and is probably wondering what the hell as well.

Lame! I hope you let Laurel know. I'm curious to know how they got a hold of it and posted on the same day.

See my response below, I doubt they could have.

remember it takes three to 5 days for a story to post.

No way they stole it, submitted it, and it went up same day.

Site error.

This is a posting mistake. Laurel has been doing that a lot more lately. They must have changed something in the backend that's causing these flubs more often.

Think they need to put it back the way it was.

Anyway, send her a PM so she can fix the posting for the other author who is probably sitting there going "WTF?"

I think so too. The title of the other story makes no sense when put along with the chapter I wrote.

Done. I'm surprised the other author hasn't filibustered yet.

Unfortunately, they may not know better and are using the worthless "email Laurel" links still littered all over the site. If the author has noticed and tried to complain, it's probably nothing more than scattered electrons in the void of an internet wasteland right now.

Definitely site mistake. Having used several different CMS to upload material, I can attest it's an easy mistake for a user to make. Chances are, to save time, the site manager may even use an automated script to batch upload. One tiny error in the code can lead to massive chaos.

Added: I have several handles I use for various reasons here, and Kitty Mama is really good at returning PMs, especially if you message Laurel a cat gif or a link to a punk band video. Just sayin'... know your site manager.

Oh, she likes man-on-man porn, too.

I sent the other author a message through the contact the author form on their page. I told them what happened and gave them a link to the forums.

This is upsetting because as Dark said it is not the first time recently. Unlike Dark I do not go with something changing on the back end.

The only change is this is yet another example of the half hazard running of this site lately. It is becoming increasingly obvious the stories that provide most of the draw hence income to this site are way down the priority list these days.

Then if that is the case the sure fire way to get her attention is

Start a thread in the GB "hey Laurel" she posts all the time there during all the time others talk about how extremely busy she is.

I've always thought you were a whiny bitch, this post just confirms it. Laurel works her tight, hot ass off for this site and if you've ever run a barebones content site you'd know that there's not much money in it (not even enough to pay yourself a decent salary; you still have to work a day job). What you're suggesting is mythical, at best, that there's any real amount of income here.

I have nothing against Laurel. If she is using an automated script to submit a batch of stories at once, such a mistake is possible. The script will become more robust as more stories are submitted and more debugging is performed based on the errors. Eventually, it might be a good thing since all our stories will come up faster.

Also: haphazard. Cripes. You're a complete fuckwad. Most sister and aunt fuckers are, though.

Automated really is the only way to go. I feel so much sympathy for what she's trying to accomplish and knowing that there's not some huge hierarchy of volunteer editors, say at someplace like reddit. I'm a content expert more than a code master, but looking at the system, with my somewhat limited knowledge, it seems like it's similar to most low-budget sites - a Frankensteined together CMS.

Thank you for confirming what I suspected when you showed up.

We'll leave it at that.

<imaginaryheaddrama1>Oh, noes! This person most certainly must be someone who has something against incest fans. It couldn't be that somebody dislikes me because I'm a complete tool. </imaginaryheaddrama1>

Could be a database error as well. One value off in the address translation table and this story overwrites whatever was written for the other story. Happens quite often in the early stages of building a large data warehouse.

It could mean they are in the process of upgrading their stories database to a more modern format.

And one that's built on top of late 90's databases and code, as well. Anything that has to be changed probably requires intense planning and legacy coding with an eye toward edging everything nearer to current standards.

Still find it hard to excuse leaving the dead email links everywhere, though. That's a vital site function, and shouldn't be left to languish as it has for years.

That is why I have veered to the content dark side. It's maddening how evil database work can be. Methodical to the point of frustration.

Having worked once on a site with about 3,000 dead email links, I can vouch for why you don't want to leave those links stagnant.

Damn LC, you got yerself a fan!!!!! @LaRascasse: It sucks they fucked your posting up. Makes me a tad nervous what might happen with the influx of Fawcker stories.

Open source I say. Open source. MySQL is not nearly as evil as its legacy-riddled brethren.

Anybody listening?

Check everything you post as soon as possible when it goes live.

If you catch a bugger-up soon enough, you may be able to get it corrected before it shows up everywhere, with the way the public content appears at different points now.

Could save you a lot of WTF comments and lost reads.

It may even provide some spoor that Manu can use to track down the beast in the system.

Something tells me Our OP might be more tech savvy than the people running the show.

Maybe you should volunteer to help them out.

Then again they do have some on site help here, I just wish they were not so obvious.
