I wear footies with sneakers and shorts. They're way more comfortable that way and let's face it knee high sports socks with shorts looks pretty goofy unless you're playing soccer or rugby.Actually it still looks goofy then but, hey, it's a brit thing. At least they're not wearing garters.

I can't wear footies with my boots though. They tend to slip down and inder my heel and bunch up under my foot. So I stick to the knee high athletic socks there.
