My dad was a huge "big band" fan. He detested rock in all its forms. We had many arguments over music when I was growing up in the 80s.

So I'm getting nostalgic tonight and listening to this 1940s shit on Sirius XM, trying to get into this for the hell of it. Suddenly I'm like this crap sucks. I'm like the dad to my no account teen son in the late 40's and am like "shut this shit off young man, put on some Metallica right now."

Seriously I can't relate to this shit. I just can't.

Honestly, I had this weird dream the other night where I am coaching a little league team and my dad is reincarnated as one of the kids on the team. It was strange. I think working from home with his urn box on the end table next to me all day is subconsciously getting to me. Lol.

As you are with music, I am somewhat on the idea of keeping ashes of the dead;
even if it's the Grateful Dead. I have their record still but I have no record player.
I liken that to having the ashes of a beloved one, but not having the beloved one.

What the f is this song? Teach Me Tonight. Girl is seducing her teacher just before graduation. Lol. Makes Sting seem innocent.

Well, he was on the edgy line, but he also brought to light a situation that is as old as man. A man is attracted to the beauty and vulnerability of youth and a young girl is attracted to the protective strength of maturity. It wasn't as if he was acting as an advocated, but as an observer of human nature.

There is some reaaallly good music of that era, but the better stuff is from the people that cut their teeth back then and moved on into their own sounds.

Guys like Stan Kenton, Stan Getz and Maynard Ferguson.

Kenton's "Journey Into Capricorn" album is one example.

In that context, that song is dirty as fuck, isn't it? Never thought of that. What are some other songs like that?
