today in my History class-

produced by HBO films- it is a series of actual letters written home from Viet Nam, read by a series of narrators, accompanied by home footage of the war shot by the SOLDIERS themselves.

No network propoganda
No Government propoganda

just the real deal by the real men and women

It pointed out in no uncertain terms how chaotic, horrifying and painfully sad it was for these otherwise idealistic young people,
to be fed the myth of of glory as green recruits and draftees...

and to then be fed the meal of death and suffering.

great music, stunning truth...accurate historicism
I suggest it to anyone who may be interested in empathizing with the troops in our newest invasion,

how we must hope and pray for all those out in the fray-

regardless of opinions held concerning the hollow suits who call the shots in offices and barooms...on both sides...

peace is the answer...war is always the same...

I had a student who approached me this afternoon after watching the film earlier and he said he had watched the footage all this past weekend of the events in Iraq, the torture and murder of POW's, the bombs raining.

And he just remarked at the tremendous courage he realized that it took to be in that life and death situation, something you can never really prepare yourself for.

And then we talked about how hard it is to recover from it as well.

I aint that political, and Im not smart enough to know what lies beneath the scenes-but I feel for those people out there trying to kill or be killed. I dont think I could do it! Id probably play dead in the sand.

Godbless them...

I agree, Peace IS the answer. Ironically, you sometimes have to fight for peace.

I understand-

it seems neverending

the fight

for peace...
