Should the U.S. admit all refugees who can get out of Afghanistan?

Fuck no.

Just another lefty attack on the USA, you and yours fucking hate this country.

We should ensure that Afghans who worked with us are safe and we should also work with our allies to ensure those fleeing aren't obstructed from doing so. (as long as that doesn't involve military involvement)

.
Just another example of someone projecting their views on Democrats.

Just like Democrats don't support open borders, Democrats demand that those Afghanis asking for asylum n the US be vetted to verify who they are, and if they in fact assisted US operations in Afghanistan. Some are going to be "lost in translation", but maybe if they had put forth the same effort to fight the Taliban as they are trying to escape the country now, maybe they wouldn't need to be seeking asylum in the first place.

"open borders"

I don't see how an influx of Afghan refugees would damage the country, or have any lefty influence here. The surviving ex-Commies in that country, from the Soviet period, are probably too old to leave.

I think you fail to gauge the impact of refugees enmasse. Should we increase the limits? Yes. To all? No

A reminder that Vietnamese refugees were far from universally accepted in the 1970s, but aside from the most hardcore racists, I think most Americans today are happy they and their descendants are here, as they enjoy their pho.

We certainly have an obligation to those who assisted the war effort and have a fear of reprisals. I'm not sure how many people we're talking about.

Accepting them as far as Guam for full vetting, yes. Guam was used for Vietnam and it's offered to be a staging point now for the Afghans.

This is a pretty good idea. I've been hearing horror stories about Afghans that were faithful partners for months or years who suddenly turned and shot soldiers in the back. We should try to help them, but carefully.

We are over the Southern Border:

Suspected terrorists crossing border 'at a level we have never seen before,' outgoing Border Patrol chief says

by Anna Giaritelli, Homeland Security Reporter | | August 16, 2021 01:47

Unprecedented numbers of known or suspected terrorists have crossed the southern border in recent months, the outgoing Border Patrol chief said.

The head of the Border Patrol, Rodney Scott, told his 19,000 agents before retiring on Aug. 14 that their national security mission is paramount right now despite the Biden administration's focus on migrant families and children who are coming across the United States-Mexico boundary at record rates.

“Over and over again, I see other people talk about our mission, your mission, and the context of it being immigration or the current crisis today being an immigration crisis,” Scott said in a video message to agents, obtained by the Washington Examiner. “I firmly believe that it is a national security crisis. Immigration is just a subcomponent of it, and right now, it’s just a cover for massive amounts of smuggling going across the southwest border — to include TSDBs at a level we have never seen before. That's a real threat.”

TSDB refers to known or suspected terrorists, as identified in the FBI's Terrorist Screening Database.

I just think that if refugees are fleeing a dangerous political situation for which the U.S. bears any measure of responsibility, that should at least be a factor in considering whether to admit them.

Which would favor the admissions of Guatemalans and Haitians.
