Should I be concerned?

....my s/o uses the same terms of endearment for the dog as he does for me....
and talks to both of us the same way, ie:
'com'ere' gimme dat nose'
'pretty baby, such a pretty face'

This bugs me.

I know I don't look like a dog.

Am I being hypersensitive??

It's all to do with the synapses - the brain connections. Does the dog mind?

It would bother me... what did he say when you told him it bothers you? Sweet nothings should be special to you... not Rover.
