Oh of that I'm well aware. Let me see, that would be width and depth I believe? ;)

For ordinary mechanics, if I were crafting ballistae or reinforcing the defences of your arboreal city this would be the case.

For our culinary purposes, the preferred terms are "girth" and "magnitude". Unfortunately, I seem to have mislaid my measuring devices. We may have to delay the baking, unless you can suggest some alternative method of estimation.

Calibrated eyeball? Fingers held 'yay' far apart? I've heard it said that if a man spreads his fingers and thumb as wide as he can, the distance measured from tip of thumb to tip of middle finger is a close approximation. Might just be a rumor though. Any fellows willing to confirm or deny? ;)

-ponders if that works in a similar fashion for the depth and breadth of feminine accommodation, with variants for elasticity and flux.-

A barehanded measurement? Guild rules forbid me from taking any measurements using anything other than an approved, calibrated Gnomish device.

I assume your guild has similar restrictions? ;)

What a fascinating hypothesis. Now, we'll need to plan an appropriate experiment to test it.

My quandary would be the control, unless statistical relativity could be more abstract and include while excluding particular variables to find the mean.

Well, we can eliminate at least one variable by holding the probe and test site constant. Then, I believe robust, steady and vigorous iteration of the test process should yield a sufficient quantity of data. Perhaps every hour, on the hour, during daylight hours? It should be trialed for a week to start, I think.

Hmm. given that much testing over a prolonged time we should be able equate durability vs. inflammatory adverse changes as well. Though that might not be the quantitative evidence we need as the original hypothesis has no inquiry there. also, retaining the number of subjects to gain enough data would be a daunting task. Perhaps that could be a secondary study with a select few?

Let's classify this as a simple data-gathering exercise. "Fucking around in the lab" is the appropriate term, in more than one sense. I don't feel we should limit the participants, though. It's only reasonable to let as many people as possible satiate their curiosity.

Also, we're straying a little off-topic, so here's another Smitten Kitchen cookie recipe:

I think the test proctor just wants a line out the door and down the walk.

Madam, I assure you that is simply not the case. Everyone gets to stay right in the lab!

This whole concept is giving me an SRP idea though.

OOC: I love that blog so much.

Do they also get cookies for compensation?

Cookie-for-cookie is an even trade, but it doesn't really provide anything they don't already have. I was thinking cookie-for-sausage would probably be more appealing.

silly, i think gnomes dont mature till they are 100.

Depends entirely on the definition, I believe. Some gnomes have short young lives but dwaddle on forever with that crazed scientist look in old age.
There's a reason, "If the crazed gnomish tinker starts running from the contraption, teleport immediately," is a trope in dungeons and dragons.

I completely agree in all regards and await further posting. *sips his tea*

Ask away!

Hmm... gnome over a hundred? Not exactly in the sproitly tyme uf lyfe, aye?

Consider them 3 foot tall middle-aged guys.

Also, remember that while GNOMEBONE can state preferences in recruitment ads, powerful anti-discrimination enchantments forbid them from denying employment on that basis. Be whoever you want to be!

I have no guild to restrict me. I'm a free agent elf, you might say. ;)
