Shibari/RopeWork Appreciation

Shibari is mostly for show, isn't it?

It's more about the aesthetics than practicality, so I've been told.

I think it depends what you get out of it. I've watched a demonstration of simple Shibari that could be worn under the clothing in a professional environment if you wanted it to serve as a reminder - say if you were in a power exchange dynamic.

For me, I love the feel of the material pressing into my skin and binding. It's the same reason I love corsets. I tend to put my ponytail holder on my wrist at night before falling asleep and then the next morning I'm obsessed with the indention it left. Same with socks around the ankles (or knees if they are knee socks). For my partner, he finds pleasure in the connection it builds while he is doing the rope work. We tend not to speak much - because he's still learning and concentrating and me because I'm getting into that head space. But there's something gratifying in being able to share space with someone in silence but still be "communicating," so to speak.

But yes, sometimes it's just pretty to look at too. :rose:

As with all things, it really is about the mind. Some people just want to be restrained. Any boy scout can do that. But to whisper in your ear the right things you need to hear, while feeling my hands cross over your body slowly making beautiful wraps...well...it is magical.

Thank you, Bramblethorn, for bring Ozuma Kaname's work to my attention.
He has many wonderful images. I felt the need to share a couple more..

Oh yes, so many gorgeous ones out there (and a few that are not quite my kink...)

As well as the ropework, I love the tattoos.
