Hi cb, along with all of what you experienced from this work of art, I saw another aspect or message. My first thought was what a juxtaposition of a pictorial form of the term "Open" and "Welcome home". The door is open in a "welcome home" sort of way, as is the woman in her pose. Both "Open" and both "welcoming home" in a sense. Now, all that is missing is the Master of the house.

There is a nice contrast between the gentle touch he has, the devoted and serene look she has, and the firm strength of the rope binding her. Yet, she appears to be bound more to him in his presence than she is by the rope.
