My wife is a sub who loves to be restrained. We have been checking out lots of shibari resources recently and are both excited to learn the ropes. She enjoys rough textures on her skin. I have calloused hands and the rough scratchy feeling is a huge turn on for her. What rope material would you all suggest for us. My concern is that overly abrasive rope would cause abrasions. For a very rough rope, I would say coconut. It is absolutely itchy and ouchie and the meanest rope I can think of.

If you want something that won’t be quite that abrasive, perhaps jute would be more your style. I recommend an unconditioned jute so that you can get it to your (and her) preferred softness level. I have bought from this jute supplier before and have some I kept unconditioned and it can be quite the scratch as it glides over my skin.
