The few that post on the Last thread know it has nothing to do with being last. You can find discussions on writing, on life, helping someone that's having a bad day, friends just talking, relaxing together, whatever comes up.

Because we still posted there tonight, it doesn't mean we don't care about what's happening to others around us.

You've got a woman who is obviously distraught over what has happen to her friend and her friend's family and you "guys" either act stupid, make smart-assed comments or use it as an opportunity to once again show your "condescension".

I don't even need to agree with her comments cuz, if you ask me, I'll take a heart-felt over reaction over apathy any time. At least she is caring enough to say SOMETHING to try to help, which puts her in the "put up" category; where as you all definitely belong in the "shut the fuck up!" category.

Thing is, Misty, there is nothing we can do beyond hold Sarah and her family in our thoughts, and offer her our good will. Which we (most of us) are doing. We are scattered across the globe. We aren't in the operating theatre, and frankly, most of us do not have the skills to be useful there. We aren't where we could help Sarah with childcare, or transport, or meals, or any of the many other practical things she's going to need over the next few weeks. Us focussing isn't going to make a blind bit of difference to the outcome. The skill and dedication of surgeons, doctors and nurses will make a difference to the outcome. Those few of us who are near enough to offer actual support in person may make some difference, if not to the outcome, at least to the burden than Sarah has to carry.

I'll admit I'm checking Sarah's thread every half an hour for news. But really, that doesn't help her any. I've posted about my experience of warfarin, because it may be some comfort to her to know it's an OK drug to live with. But there isn't anything else I can do; so it's best I get on with my life.

Same applies to all the rest of us.

No. I honestly wonder what the hell else I'm supposed to do than let those who go though a tough time know that I root for them and theirs... from my rather akward position thosands of miles and two seas away. I don't have any experience or knowledge to share on the subject. I don't have any practical way to assist in any way. So as soon as I saw this latest thread and read what happened, I let it be known I wish them both well.

So, I repeat: Put up what?
