ok, i have just recently started shaving "down there" and i need some help. what is the best way to do it? how do you get it smooth? how often should you do it? and is it normal (eww warning) to get little pus filled bumps the next day? plz help!

:) allright well in that case, the bumps are most likely because you didn't exfoliate first. This gets rid of a lot of bacteria...this causes the bumps. I have good luck with the schick intuition razor, but of course nothing beats professional waxing.

OUCH! i never plan on waxing in my life, because omg, i never want to have to go through that. but how exactly do you exfoliate? im new to this, remember?

Hope this helps...

1sexygal, Have you tried using a Gillette Venus razor? I have one and it works great! If not try using a Gillette Venus Breeze razor as it might help you. Plus they make great shaving gels too called Satin Care.

I used to use a Venus razor, but I've been waxing for a while now. Hurts like crazy at first.....

eh. well now there are two. lol
Actually, there are hundreds, if not thousands. Have you checked out the Hair Removal section of The Blank Manual sticky? If not, you should start there.

It's only really painful the first 2-3 of times for most people. You should have it done by a good professional those times at least. Then it gets better over time, especially since the hair grows in thinner and finer with repeated waxing. I figure a few minutes of pain is a hell of a lot better than shaving daily, dealing with stubble, razor burn, buying expensive razors, etc.

You can exfoliate with anything that gently removes the dead skin cells.

Also make sure everything you use is clean. One lady here ended up in the hospital after bacteria got into her bloodstream via shaving.

Just wanted to say thank you to you ladies for going to all that work.

If you never waxed, how would you know that you never want to go through with it? ;) :D

This. If you end up liking the results of a shaved look, you may wish consider waxing. It's not all that painful, and it's absolutely worth the 30 minutes of mild discomfort. Just sayin'.

I'm not all that familiar with 'Smooth Away' but it seems that it's not recommended for the bikini zone. While it does not explicitly say that one should not use it in that area, it does not say anywhere that this product could be, or should be, used around the bikini. In my book, unless a product is specifically made for my crotch area, it does not go anywhere near it. Period.

You can buy an exfoliating glove at the dollar store. When you shower, slip on the glove, apply your favourite body wash (preferably one created specifically for sensitive skin) and gently, with light circular motions, exfoliate. This goes without saying that you exfoliate the mound, and not the inner labia or inside the vagina.

SatinDesire, our resident make-up fairy :rose: has an excellent post on how to shave and minimise razor burns. Click here.

A bath pouf, loofah, blue scotch-brite sponge (new, obviously), sea salt, even baking soda.

Don't you use something to exfoliate the rest of your body? If that works for you, buy a new one (ideally something you can sanitize or replace frequently), and use it on your pubic region.

i probaly do use something to exfoliate the rest of my body, but im not familair with the word. lol.
wait...
have i used "lol" in every one of my posts?

Are you really ready to shave if you're calling it "down there" ?

Otherwise, if you have one, do it after you've had a soak in the bath. The hot water softens the skin and hair, you're less likely to do yourself damage, and will get a closer shave.

dont go totally bare ladies!!

you'll lose the odor that we go "down there" for:)

I used to use Bikini Zone Shave Gel and a bikini razor (disposable kind)......Did that for years now I just get it sugared. I like the feel and end results much better than waxing.

Again another man saying thank you

I still get excited on massage days for my wife cause that is the same day she shaves.

She is relaxed and I get a hot dinner at the Y

"Pubic hair" works for most.

You do come across as really young in your posts. You are over 18, right?

Shave near the end of a shower.

You need to go get checked out if you have an unpleasant odor and good hygiene. A healthy, fairly clean (i.e. washed with warm water within the past day) pussy doesn't smell bad.

Sugaring is a ball of "sugar" (thicker than was) that is rolled across your skin and pulled to remove the hair. No cloth strip or hot wax is used. It gives a cleaner surface because it can be used in the same area over again to ensure a softer and more hairless area.
