Yes, carefully is the order of the day. Buy a shaving lotion that is marketed for women's legs and take your time in the shower.
That's what I do and it works very well. Well, that and practice...*grin*
I never cut myself anymore, though I had a few accidents in the beginning.

Use an electric shaver. The new kind that are advertised on TV to take care of nose and ear hair and stuff like that. I personally just use my razor and have never had a problem but if that freaks you out go with the electric.
OUCH !!! i tryed that i quickly found out that electric shavers like to pull some of the hairs out . not fun !!!
my ex wanted me to try with a razer she shaved her legs with.
it worked fine and i have never cut or nicked myself < im not all that carefull any more either > just use a razor you shave your face with. they seem to work the best.
Order finally arrived, think I have more than enough to last a lifetime (postage was the same for 1 tub as two from Afrocare in the UK, very helpful).
Thank god, no adverse reaction and wow! It is top stuff. With crimble delays though it naturally turned up the day after I tested the christmas present wilkinson sword 4 blade razor out, so still waiting for enough stubble to sort the rest of me out, its not as smooth shaving as the mach III in action, but it does seem to be longer lasting and gives even fewer bumps.
As for the Magic, well worth investigating. Tried a few things out recently but nothing comes closer to magic, I'm even considering using it on my face where it is, after all, intended
To rehash old ground (cos you wont search will you?) Magic is a depilatory treatment for black men who get razor bumps etc from shaving. Ie its immac/veet for blokes and, being designed to treat thick facial hair also does an excellent job removing pubic hair.
It comes in powder form, seems to contain the same stuff as the ladies (and far more expensive) stuff but is apparently a fair bit stronger. It can cause relatively serious skin irration, especially if you are using it on your pleasure zone so make sure you follow the instructions and patch test it first (inside your forearm is pretty good, its out of the way and is similar skin to your groin area).
To use you mix it with water, apply, leave it for 5 minutes or so and then scrape it off (they dont provide anything to do this with, if you have an SO, pinch the scraper thing immac/veet provide with leg hair remover, its ideal.) along with all the hair for a silky smooth , hairless finish.

Just soap up, rinse, apply a thick lather of shaving cream and go at it with a sharp fresh razor (try Mach III). Go at it slowly and you'll be fine. It's not as complicated as you make it out to be.

Definitely use a women's shaving product. Preferably one that has a moisturizer in it, foam is also a good idea. The best bet would be to use Skintimate. I myself, though I have been told this is not even done by girls, shave against the grain to maximize the closeness of the shave. Also when shaving the testicles it is best to gently push and pull them up and to the sides to better shave besides them as well as to increase the surface tension. Therby making it "safer" to shave the acutal testicles. Other wise you have a greater chance to cutting them; and if you have ever had a cut on your face into which shaving foam/gel has gone into...the sting is twice as bad on your balls. Thankfully I have only cut myself twice in a year and a half of shaving. Just take your time, and don't jerk the shaving hand...relax. It's also best to do it in the shower....or just after you have taken one.

I've had good results with those Finishing Touch trimmers that they advertise on TV. I thought it would be a piece of junk for $10. But, it works pretty much as advertised.

that magic thing sounds good...i'll try it...shaved balls feel very nice,,,but when the hair starts growing out it drives my nuts nuts

I guess I'm just old-fashioned, even if I did start wearing a 3/4 decades before it was fashionable.
I once had a lover who decided to shave his entire pubic area. He was a rather hirsute Pakistani guy, and his hair started regrowing practically minutes after he'd shaved. Having sex with him became like having my own pubic region rubbed with sandpaper. No thanks.

I have done the shaving cream thing and moistuizers and everything else mentioned here. What I find works best is Talcum powder generously spread over the entire area ( Talcum will work as a lubericant, and the three bladed lady's razor. Just pull the skn tight and there you go. I haven't had any problems in five years of shaving.
