Sharpe OOC Casting Call

If we fail to find a suitable villain I suppose I could volunteer my services to do some multi-tasking.

Thought about a bio and will be happy to share it with you should no one else hear the call.

Things are coming along nicely methinks, a great looking 'cast'...all we need now is a villain or villainess as Lady M has pointed out... ;)

Any idea on a story line or scenario in which the tale will begin, Milady...?
Just to get the imagination flowing in advance

Dear Mrs Britwitch

I'm thinking along the lines as follows:

One final battle on Spanish soil before the combined armies of Britain, Spain and Portugal can make their incursion into France proper. The Emperor is besieged on two fronts. In the Northern Theatre Austria, Prussia, Russia and Sweden are standing, ready to deliver a final blow to France's hold of Europe.

The Southern Theatre has been depleted of forces, Bonaparte having gambled everything on a decisive victory in Germany to force the Northern Allies into submission.

Brigade Major Sharpe is at the head of the British assault, leading the South Essex and it's detachment of Riflemen against the heavily fortied French troops under Marshal Soult. Victory seems imminent as the British are reinforced by a detachment of elité Spanish cavalry as well as battle-hardened Portugese regulars.

The news have brought joy to the Spanish and Portugese, having suffered the harsh regime of French hegemony, and in a vain attempt to once more meet her saviour, Miss Kate Savage accompanied by her maid Sussannah are travelling to join the Allied forces.

Unbeknownst to Sharpe and his fellow Riflemen is the evil plot to get rid of the obstinate Major.

*OK here it depends on whether I should do some multi-tasking or leave the role open for a while longer. In essence a highly trained and fiercly loyal French spy/soldier sent on a mission to discredit Sharpe, stall the invasion and hopefully restore the honour of the French legions after the loss of the Eagle at Talavera...I do think this role ought to be played by a woman but it's up to the rest of the gang to decide*

All sounds great to me...
Perhaps leave the villain/ess role open a little longer (not that I doubt your ability to write the role fantastically :D ) just to see if there is any other interest...although, if you write it at least it should keep things flowing the way you'd like... ;)

If necessary, we could have "half-villains/villainesses".

That is. Not everybody can multi-task properly for a long time, but if for a short time, multiple enemies can be created and have each one pass the baton to the next. Some of the current roleplayers could create different villains of different procedence, modus operandi and with different motives. Sometimes, certain villains would be active. Sometimes, none.

For example, the female French spy might be a Spanish afrancesada instead, intent on having Sharpe killed since he is a mayor "paine dans le butt", or perhaps she just wants to snatch him away for herself. To do this, she might be counting on a traitor in one of the regiments, or viceversa. Either the afrancesada wants to kill Sharpe and uses the traitor, or the traitor wants to kill Sharpe and uses the afrancesada...

There is plenty to work with here, I think.

Dear Katamari

I defer to your knowledge of the intricacies of srp. Just out of interest I could post the bio of a possible villainess

Justine de Villiers.

Only child of General Jaques de Villiers, who was in charge of a secret detachment of elité dragoons. The ones that made the Guards look like kindergarten. Orphaned youngsters have been recruited to this detachment, given superior training and the notion that they are the Emperor's elite. The numbers are never more than 40 and apart from Bonaparte they own a fierce loyalty to the General and his Daughter.

Justine has been given the command of the unit, they operate behind enemy lines, using terror as their chief weapon. She has been granted the rank of Colonel de Chasseurs and is affectionably known as "Sister Justine" among her men. She's in her late twenties, wears the uniform of the Light Cavalry and is a master swords-woman as well as marksman.

*She's of course dazzingly sexy and completely void of morals...*

Although I will admit I am knowledgeable in the ways of roleplaying, I can come up easily with experimental solutions to problems. This is one of them. Working hard, nobody likes, but for a short time it can be managed...

That said, I am already impatient to pit Alfonso against Justine. Should make for an interesting game of wit, tactics, marksmanship and swordplay... ^^

Dear Katamari

Mmm very interesting a scene...Although I fear that dear Alfonso with his chivalrous manners would be a snack to our French demoness...

I'm of the mind starting the IC thread later tonight...Anyone against?

My, it's like the return of Helena all over again, let's see if the gallant Major has learned any manners since then, shall we?

Always a sucker for a pretty face...

Ah yes. Like Helena, but physically as tough as Teresa and with all the moral scruples of Ducos.

*gulp*

Perhaps, my dear Lady Mornington, perhaps... but first, she will have to get close. Forty French dragoons against ~120 Spanish hussars? An interesting fight indeed... :D

No prob with starting tonight.

Fine with me to start things tonight... :D
Looking forward to seeing how poor little Susannah will fit into all this intrigue... ;)

I'll post the IC thread a bit later and put the link to it here. Let's keep this going as well to have a forum to discuss the issues related to the IC one.

*Sharpening her pen, getting into charachter(s)...*

Well, if Sharpe intends to start a relationship with Miss Savage, then there is only one other male to interact with Susannah, but she will have to work a bit on him... ;)

Actually, there's Alfonso and Mr Harper
Hmmm...decisions, decisions... ;)

Oh my, can't believe I forgot him!

Well, as it is, we have an equal number of males and females. Although, interaction with one of the females will probably involve some sort of sneakiness... (I say bondage... :D ).

P.S: Steiner, about Teresa's physique. Being the only Spanish character I have heard of in Sharpe's novels... does she kick ass? ^^

It's not as Sharpe is very monogamous though...He had his way with Lady Farthingdale and Josefina whilst married to Teresa...I think there will be ample opportunity even for Sussannah to have a go at him.

Interaction with one of the females is more likely to involve sharp things and powdersmoke.

And being ridden over by horses.

Ah - such is the life of an Infantryman!

As for claims of unfaithfulness - to be fair Teresa was VERY far away most of the time during that period.

...he he he...*does a little happy dance*... :D

Yes Steiner I think 'gulp' somes up Justine de Villiers quite nicely.

Mi'Lady I thank you for your kind words.

Due to those dash awful time zone thingy's I'm online for just the shortest of times right now and must away to my employment soon however I shall be able to post in 12 hours hence on to the IC thread. If the after work drinks for a departing work chum do not by chance befuddled my head.

And as for Teresa, she kicks arse in every way.

What did Kate ever do to merit such treatment???

Noblewomen! Everything isn't always about you... ;)

I was referring to the psychotic French beauty who is determined to put an end to the least pompous Major in the Army.

Meeting with Kate is likely to cause flames of a different sort.
