This is my good friend's little boy with Osteosarcoma (Bone Cancer) The more people I can get praying for him, the better. You can read his journal on this link, see pics of him, even send well wishes by signing his guestbook. Thanks in advance for taking a look.

That's awesome, Rain. I love the whole concept of Caring Bridge! My cousin was in a terrible motorcycle accident a few years ago, and they did something similar to this. Very cool - and a prayer was sent from me.

My favorite charity is St. Jude's

but what I put my own time into, and am trying to impress upon my darlings is how important our people who have been abandoned in nursing homes are.

Once, and a lot of times STILL, vital lives...with stories and lessons to share with us...and my, oh my...how they love visits and little tidbits you can bring them. Sometimes something very little to you, can mean a whole lot to someone like them.

Kendra - this is SO true! I just finished my training and worked at several Long Term Care facilities. These wonderful people have a million stories and memories that we can learn from. One of the most incredible experiences during my training, was an exercise we were required to complete - an Elder interview, if you will. We asked about their life growing up, did they drive a car - type, who taught them, marriage and family life, even sex life. WOW - let me just say - it was very eye opening! Things really aren't that different now when it comes to sex - well, except for the role the computer plays in it! ;)

So - just wanted to say - thanks for posting that. I wholeheartedly agree.

I am doing the exact same walk in Washington DC in October... this is a cause I feel strongly about even though I only have one family member who has dealt with it (my great grandmother), it's still something I am determined to do for those who are fighting it, survived it, or succumbed to it.

Please support me and Mrs H in this cause, even just in well wishes.

Im having trouble right now posting a link...but...

I am extremely passionate about my volunteer work with Cancer patients at a well known hospital here where I live...Cancer has touched my personal life so much and so deeply so I needed to give back...this has profoundly rendered my heart and soul...

I am involved in scouting....I train adult leaders, specifically adults for cub scout aged boys. I recently taught two different 45-minute sessions on games I made up, and did another 45-minute session on magic....it's just fun to give ideas and see the fun show thru....
