all white people don't look alike at all, there just isn't the diversity of skin complexion as there is with those of african descent. also, very few black people have a complexion anything close to "black," just as most white people do not have a milky near-white complexion. in order to get that "artsy" look you're talking about you have to have two people at either extreme, pretty rare.
It's funny, my GF was way way more into those cafe-au-lait and cream poetic contrasts than I ever was. If I get enough sun there wasn't THAT much contrast to even wax poetic over.
