There are many levels of 'kinkiness' described on this forum, from vanilla sex, to full-time sexual slavery; and from basic playfulness to proper beatings. I'm interested to know if there are labels underneath the term BDSM, ways to describe quite closely which 'level' fits a person. I thought that there must be some terms that people use to differentiate?

I'm not really into labelling myself, but I must admit, I did find myself nodding in agreement and recognising myself as number 5, a true submissive play slave.

That is a good site, and I'd have to agree with FreeGal and say that I feel that number 5 describes me the best, although of course that's all in theory - I have yet to find someone with whom I can experience it.

It must be difficult for most people who are just beginning to explore this side of themselves to ensure that the people with whom they are connecting know where it is they lie on that scale.
I am interested as to the way that masochism is normally associated with both submission and with bondage. I wonder if there are many, or indeed any, others out there who enjoy play-submission and bondage, and things such as spanking or nipple clamps, but don't really find much pleasure in pain? Is that strange? Where on earth does that place me? I guess that's the ususal "what am I?" question.
