Okay, kinksters, help me out! My wife has a conference in Las Vegas in February, and neither of us has been there before, so I am tagging along and then we will extend a few days on our own dime. However, she is going to be in the conference for quite a few days, so I have to keep out of trouble on my own!

Please share any and all tips you might have about Las Vegas. As of right now we have reservations at the America's Best Value Inn on East Tropicana, toward the south end of the strip and a couple of blocks east. My wife's work has a strict $114 per diem for hotel, and we'll be there over the very pricey President's Day weekend, so this was pretty much one of the only places within the budget that wasn't way far off-Strip. (The conference is at the Venetian.)

So! Please give me your suggestions. What should a first-timer do in Las Vegas? And since this is a sex board, feel free to mention your favorite topless revues, etc. Thanks!

I love the transvestite show. It is one of the most affordable, and it is hilarious.

Is that "La Cage" at the Riviera that has all the female impersonators of Celine Dion, Tina Turner, etc? I saw that one on a list but I didn't know anything about it. Thanks for the recommendation, I will have to check it out...especially since it's affordable!

That is the one. I have seen it twice, and it gives you a lot of bang for your buck. If you like female impersonators ( and who doesn't? LOL) You will love it! Some of these guys are uncanny.

Back in the day, I had friends in the San Francisco Cockettes, and they were one raucous bunch. Now these guys (and ladies) are respectable citizens who happend to dress like women to make a nice living. I think it is good show, but others my not. Enjoy! Lance Burton is supposed to be good, but he is expensive I think.

at $75 to $140 per ticket its pricey but the Cirque De Soliel show Zumanity at the New York New york is way sexy! if you are into acrobatic sex and artsy kinky stuff.

We are definitely seeing that! We can't afford the fancy couches but we will get an unobstructed seat at least.

I think the three shows I want to see (as of now) are Zumanity, La Cage, and Penn & Teller. I'm also interested in "Love" which is a new Cirque Du Soleil show set to Beatles music.

I do love Le Cirque du Soleil ... awwww :rose:

Bumping this up so MasterPhoenix can contribute!

We have had a few changes - we are now staying at the Venetian from 2/14 to 2/21, and then we are switching to the Stratosphere for 2/21 to 2/24. We have tickets for Zumanity and Penn & Teller. I also have a ticket to go see the Titanic exhibition - by myself, my wife's not interested! And on 2/22 we are going to do a Grand Canyon tour. Other than that I'm not sure what I'm doing, like while my wife is in the conference and classes...I can always tour all the ostentatiousness along the strip! (I never did hear back about whether the Golden Nugget still has the deaf dealer.)

I am seriously psyched like you would not BELIEVE.

When I'm in Vegas, I can't do the gambling thing as I'm under 21, nor can I do any of the sexual-esque stuff because I'm usually there with my family so I don't know any of that. What I do do however is the buffets and the shows.

Best buffet, in my humble opinion, is at the Bellagio. Mega-expensive, but everything is to die for. (I do recall you are veggie, but I don't recall the veggie selection there.) Second-best is the seafood buffet at the Rio. (Again, not sure if you eat fish, don't take the suggestion the wrong way.)

The show I would reccomend seeing is We Will Rock You at Paris Las Vegas. I have not seen it there, but I have seen it in London (where it originated) and it is FANTASTIC. Very good storyline and the music is awesome. (Duh, it's Queen.) IIRC, there's also an impersonator show at the Stratosphere that wasn't bad. As well, EFX at the MGM Grand is pretty good. I saw it when Tommy Tune was there, my parents saw it when Michael Crawford was there. Currently it's Rick Springfield in the lead role.

Also very fun, there's a place near the Hilton that does indoor skydiving. Here it is.

GEEK OPTION: The Star Trek Experience at the Las Vegas Hilton.

As I said, I'm not very good at judging what people like, I just tell 'em what I like.

One thing that you can do for FREE is to take an evening at the Fremont Street expierence. They have the part of Fremont street with teh old casinos closed off ot car traffic and a roof over it where they play light-shows set to music once an hour after dark. You will find a lot of little kisok-shops there, and should be a grat way to kill an evening doing something other than gaming.

For gaming, I recommend off strip casinos, because they seem to have the better odds.

I didn't really actively participate in the lifestyle there, so I don't have any good suggestions as to dungeons etc...

Here are the cheap and freebie things:

the spiral escalators and most over the top furniture shop at Caesars forum shops new part- there is a nice perfume store there as well, the fight for Atlantis and Bacchus also at Caesars forum shops-old part. The rain at the desert passage of the Aladdin, the corset shop at the Venetian, the ceiling in the lobby of the Belligio, the garden exhibit at the Belligio, the dancing fountains at the Belligio-take the moving sidewalk and see behind them, the penguins, other birds and fish at the Flamingo. There are some free large cats exhibits too.

When you go to P&T go early, there will be some jazz, check out the boxes on the stage if they are still doing boxes, and the bass player ;)

when you are checking out Fremont street experience, hit the Golden Gate for 99 cent shrimp cocktails if you eat shrimp. Also look at Neonopolis's bowling alley.

Quirky not so expensive things to see:Elvis O'Rama and see a live impersonator sing, sitting in old style booths/seats, the Liberace museum-the cars and costumes are something else. I went to the faux king tut exhibit at the Luxor that was surprisingly good last time.

Take the monorail to the Hilton for the Star Trek Experience and get a steaming drink at Quarks. Star Trek Experience is not inexpensive but I enjoyed it.

I have yet to go to Circus, Circus but that might be interesting.

oh Mac King is good, inexpensive and during the day.

There are coupons on line for a lot of things plus the hotels have them too.

Two things I highly recommend.

1) Check out the interior of the Luxor. Especially go up about 10 floors on one of the elevators and then look out over the balconey.

2) One day rent a car and drive out to the Hoover Dam. Absolutely incredible.

If you are looking to take a side trip out of town, I recommend going to see the Valley of Fire... OMFG it is amazingly beautiful.

Go north out of town on i-15 to exit 75,then follow the signs.. its several more miles, and when you drive into it, it will take your breath away.

If I still lived there in Sin City, I would offer to meet you & your wife for some conversation and drinks... but I am well away from there now.

That's something I haven't figured out...the whole buffet thing. According to Las Vegas Vegetarian Options, the best buffet for vegetarians is at the Aladdin. I do want to try to find one that's got enough selections for me, because otherwise I'm paying for a whole buffet when there's only a small part I can eat!

Wow, indoor skydiving sounds cool! I will have to check that out.

And oh man, I am SO going to the Star Trek Experience. I wanted to get their special $89/nt deal, but they're not offering it in February. I plan to drag my wife on both of the rides, and I am going to make her eat at Quark's Bar with me! (I know it's just regular food with Trek names, but still!)

The Stratosphere is up at that end of town, right? Is it walking distance from the Experience? I think we are planning on doing that, I at least want to see the light shows.

I'm not planning on doing any gaming...I might blow $20 on the slots but that's about it. I do want to go to the Golden Nugget just to see if the deaf dealer is still there; if he is I might play a couple of rounds of blackjack with him. :)

WHAT?!?!?! Are you serious?!? Oh my god, I think I just died and went to heaven! We are staying at the Venetian and they have a corset shop there?! Guess what I am buying as a souvenir of my trip!!

Oh! I forgot about the Liberace museum, I was thinking of doing that too. Thanks for reminding me!

You have got some great tips Noor, thank you! :D

I don't know that I would recommend walking it at night, as north of the Stratosphere is not he best neighborhood, but it is not too far.

A quiick ride on the Cat 301 or 302 would get you right there.

Perfect! I will make sure to look up info on that, though I'm sure the hotel can help too. When we were in San Juan we used the B25 bus to get from our hotel to OSJ, I think it was a quarter each way! So we're okay with using buses. :)

I think it was a buck and a quarter each way, or it least it was when I lived there. It only takes about 5 minutes or so, and it will drop you off at the Down town transit centre which is about 2 blocks from Fremont Street.

It is a great way to kill an evening.

I was mesmerized. I just wanted to lie on my back in the middle of the lobby. The Bellagio also had a Monet exhibit when I was there a while ago. Maybe there will be some museum exhibits you may want to check out.

The fountains at the Bellagio are also must see freebies. And of course you can always wander the shops along the canals in the Venetian, and the shops at Cesar's Palace are also great. I stayed at the Luxor when it first opened - those elevators are interesting as they move diagonally, so don't get too drunk if you're going to get in one. And last time I was there, you couldn't get on them without a room key. The Luxor has some great shops, too. Last time I was there, which was last summer, Circus Circus was really falling apart. If you want to play some arcade stuff, Excalibur is much better. But they don't have the circus acts that CC does.

The Hoover Dam idea is a great idea, but you can also catch a day tour rather than rent a car if you want. It's not that far, but the traffic over the dam can be a bitch.

February is cold at the Grand Canyon. Make sure you take a jacket or sweater, especially if you will be there in the late afternoon as the sun is going down. Also, wear good shoes if you plan to walk around at all. You'll need good soles because anything off the paved walkways is going to be rocky. Last time I was there, Bright Angel Lodge had a nice lunch buffet, but don't know if they still do or not.

I don't know what kinds of entertainment you like, but Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville is there, Toby Keith's I Love This Bar, Coyote Ugly - all of these places are there and each one has its own 'flavor' to it if you like the bar scene or just want to check them out. They also have shops if you're into that sort of thing - I have teenage girls so they are! The roller coaster at NY NY is okay - it's kinda cool to ride at night when things are all lit up.

It's obviously not in the same league as the other shows mentioned, but my girls love the Dinner Tournament at Excalibur. Really hot guys on horses jousting - a little like A Knight's Tale up close and person. And you get dinner, which isn't too bad. Although you have to eat with your hands. :)

These two websites have some freebie info and some coupons you can print. Not everything in Vegas is outrageously expensive.
