sexuality forums: orientation demographics

I frequent a few of sexuality forums. Two are geared towards women, one decidedly making an appeal to bi/lesbian women. Another is for women, but men are welcomed. It's predominately heterosexual. Another is mixed, predominately heterosexual, with emphasis on different sexual bents including poly, swingers, gay/bi/transgender.

What's common on all these forums is the considerably small percentage of gay men. As liberal and diverse as all these sites are, the absence of gay men is obvious.

Why is this? What's your experience with sexuality forums?

This is the only place I go to.

Gay men try to play it straight or try to play it as women. IMHO.

I think that there are an awful lot of forums and such that are oriented specifically towards gay men. There's no real reason for them to come to a predominantly het board. The gay male culture has always been distinctively separate from het society; initially it was safer that way, and then it was habit (and probably still safer, if we're being realistic). They congregate where other gay men congregate, not where a bunch of straight folks do. Much to the relief of all those homophobic straight men who seem to think that all gay males must be interested in them.

I just think it's a trend that's carried over from real life onto the net.

From my experience with gay men, and I mean strictly as someone who knows men who are gay, not what you people are thinking.

Girl has the right idea, gay men for the most part, don't really want anything to do with hetro or even bi boards. Not saying all gay men are like this, just the ones I personally know.

Not all gay men are "fag hags" either, they aren't always as open about it, even when annonimity is available.

From what a friend who wrote a gay story told me....it's gotten the best response (views and votes) of any of their stories...so they must all be visiting the stories sexion.....err section.
