BDSM...for real

What are your thoughts on it? Do you stay away from BDSM? Are you strictly vanilla? Do you participate in it but keep it a secret...even from your Lit life? What are your perceptions about it? Are you curious but wanting to know more? Discuss.

I am submissive by nature, not just sexually, though I don't want to live a sub life 24/7. I haven't gotten to explore much in the way of BDSM yet because my life, thus far, has been pretty vanilla. But I'm working on that! I do keep my interest in BDSM separate from RL, but I'm quite vocal about it on lit.
I tend to be toward the lighter side of BDSM- lite bondage, small amounts of pain, etc. I don't like humiliation stuff at all.

I'm pretty much the same way. Except I'm just about as much a dom as I am a sub. It works out pretty well because my hubby is the same way. I haven't fully explored the BDSM life style, really just played around a lot.

For real

I am a maso-Domme. It is a part of my real life and has been for years. Not to say that I find straight nilla sex to be boring or anything but I am best when giving pleasure (or taking that same pleasure away). It is an integral part of me, both on Lit and out there in the world.

First of all, this is a bump for an awesome thread logophile and I had here for a while...

and a new revelation: I really hate any kind of anal sex/penetration/play

one more: candle wax is good

another: so is ice

I like all of those. :cathappy:

On that note, here's todays topic. It's a loose subject...I'm just interested to hear various opinions based on some recent experience I've had.

BDSM: Slaves and Subs
We all know that BDSM is a huge piece of ground for anyone to cover, in research or in RL, and everyone has a slightly different variation on the whole scene, so hopefully I'll get a range of different responses here.

What, in your opinion, are the differences between slaves and submissives?

Serious brain food here, people. I'm genuinely interested to know your take on this, whether it's been your experience from a Dom/me POV or a submissive or slave. Maybe you haven't had experience. I still want to know.

Fire away and gear up for discussion....

No direct experince really.
Am interested, though from a more academic understanding perspective.
Will read with interest to find out more and attempt to understand the motivation and mindset, which has eluded my understanding so far.

JMHO

IMO, as a sub, I see the difference this way: Slaves are their master's submissive 24-7. They live BDSM. They do what Master says, when S/He says it, or they suffer the consequences. For them, it's a lifestyle. On the other hand, subs are subs in the bedroom only. They are submissive to their Dom, but only in the bedroom. Outside of the bedroom, all bets are off.

These are only my perceptions. I'm sure others may see it differently. JMHO.

as a sub, i agree with this totally :D

that is exactly how it was for me...i did what He said in the bedroom or during a session no questions asked...but outside of the bedroom we were just "regular" people...except for the occassional display of Dominance he would display in public**giggle**a pull of the hair, a naughty instruction whispered in the ear... ;)

It was a similar situation for me too, but then again, it never escalated to full fledged D/s. But similarly, kiten, it was a hand on the back of the neck, hair pulling, etc. It was probably more obvious to the rest of the world what was going on at times than I thought it was, but other times it was just sweet hand-holding.

In the bedroom though...yeah it was a different story. Hell, even just behind closed doors, it was a different story. Still..I'm the rebellious type submissive...... You can imagine how well that went over with Her.....

slaves by definition are 'owned'. subs, on the other hand, IMHO, are actually in charge. The dom is really the one who does what the sub wants done. At least in my experience (but I've never BEEN a sub, alway the Dom.)

That must really get your goat

As a sub, this is how I have been living my life for a little over a year now. :D I completely agree with this - always in the bedroom and out of the bedroom we look like your average couple. However, at the start of my relationship I was a slave, not a sub...then as feelings came more into play the lifestyle dwindled until it was just a bedroom thing.

On the contrary. I enjoy pleasing her by Domination to her specifications. That's what safewords are for.
