Sesame Street Unsuitable For Kids.

Sigh. Todays paper is whining that gravediggers in Iraq are hurting because the violence is down, there.

Sometimes I just want to shake most of the world and say wake up dammit!!!

There is always a significant minority of people who are militant enough and energized enough for crusades of various kinds. The crusades change, but the personalities are always the same.

Theyre how we get things like alcohol prohibition and all the stupid laws we laugh about. These people are unsmiling scolds.

Thank gods I wasn't trying to raise PC kids.

Original Sesame Street DVDs just went to the top of my Xmas list for them.

And have you read the comments on that article? Some people make me giggle.

Yep. Picking on Oscar and Cookie Monster and Bert & Ernie is way over the top.

Honestly, I'm not surprised. While this is only the basic form of censure, I'm sure there will be more. Matt Lauer is sure to have a serious discussion with one of the original Sesame Street writers sooner or later . . . .

At the same time, last I checked, 'Power Rangers' was still on TV, a show that offers nothing in the way of education and little, if any moral messages.

So, let's see . . . barinless, flashy fare that teaches nothing = Good.

Intelligent, educational shows = Bad.

Take a ten-year-old from 1969 and a ten-year-old from 2007, and I bet I know who would place higher on any standardized test.

There was that banned episode of Thomas the Tank Engine where Thomas was going into the roundhouse to get his crank polished.....

I grew up with Captain Kangaroo. Tom Terrific and Mighty Manfred the Wonder Dog would never survive the PC scrutiny.

But the issue with Sesame Street illuminates how the PC Crusaders trash and disparage American icons.

JBJ...you started this thread? Hmmm...

I suggest a reading of the NYT source first: New York Times. , hmmm...maybe the link did not copy and paste...I think it was Oblimo who included it up thread.

I wish to suggest that the Sesame Street so called PC attack, is just the tip of the iceberg in many, many ways.

How to present this...?

The performing artists community, writers, screen writers, creators, producers actors the whole shooting match are predominantly left wing liberals. They have an agenda.

Children's programming, cartoons, especially those produced aired by the Public Broadcasting System in the US, are laden with hidden messages.

Think back, those of you who can, to the cartoons of the world war two era; the Bugs Bunny, Donald Duck genre that portrayed the rotten Japs and the Dirty Germans as the enemy and as evil and the good Americans and Brits.

Cartoons can be used as propaganda and influential and I suggest modern cartoons, even Sesame Street, do the same thing.

Equality of gender and race is paramount in the presentation of cartoons and films of all sorts produced by the left wing intellectuals. You will always see a black kid, and brown kid, a yellow kid, in almost any modern cartoon you watch.

And I know you are aghast as you suspicion that I may not think this is a good thing, after all, every one wants gender and racial equality, across the board, it is the civilized thing to strive for, right?

Perhaps, but should it be pushed surreptiously and insideously through the media at all levels of political correctness?

I only watched Sesame Street in passing while tending children and I do not watch cartoons from choice but I am not unaware of modern cartoon presentations which present gender roles along the line of secular humanist viewpoint, i.e. left wing liberal pussies.

Even Charlie Brown, the Peanuts thing, which I know because I like the piano work of Vince Guaraldi (sp) who does the theme, is chock full of the liberal agenda concerning males and females, even as boys and girls.

I remember the Flintstones, although I never watched on purpose, and even more modern adult cartoons like the Simpsons and others I do not know, but glimpse in disgusted passing and each and every snatch I get is loaded with political or PC content.

To tell you the truth, I don't give a shit anymore, it is your world now, do with it as you will. But perhaps, just perhaps, if you monitor your child's viewing habits and objectively perceive the content, you may be surprised.

Although most inhabitants on this forum are perfectly comfortable with the portrayal of a tiny minority of the population, homosexuals, as an acceptable lifestyle, when you see it actively advocated in cartoons, does it not give you grounds to question....why?

One can be tolerant of masculine women, one can be tolerant of same sex relationships, but need they be stuck under our noses, slipped into our childrens formative years and thrust before us in every aspect of the left wing media that we are daily subjected to?

Enough already!

The problem for the Libbies is kids know when entertainment is the candy coating for a sermon. And the brighter ones figure out what's up, and stop watching the show. Alan Alda pulled the same stunt with MASH when he directed the episodes. Towards the end of the series every episode was a rant and sermon about some injustice. And people stopped watching it.

Libbies, at heart, are the sons & daughters of the Women's Christian Temperance Union.

The subliminal Liberal message in tv cartoons is: Youre not okay, but you can be okay if you do what we do.

I think that most politically correct people that insist on inflicting it on others should all fuck off and die.

The only talent I have is doing a perfect imitation of someone with a cleft-pallet (hair-lip).
