Our 16 y.o. Einstein totalled the car on Wednesday night while rounding a 25 mph curve. It's shoulders are littered with tracks from previous errant cars, and even a cross. Damn it!

Then yesterday, the 'above the law' neighbor's unleashed and uncontrolled dog attacked our confined dog. The outcome has left our dingo without a right eye - yes, I said, without an eye. This is the same dog that bit the 16 y.o. Einstein this past summer...the same dog that is never controlled, whose owners think so little of her that now she faces almost certain euthanasia.

Some people are so absofuckinglutely stupid and I am...seriously pissed!

Maybe they should put down the owners instead of the dog. Sounds like you've had a rough time. Here... grab a Tooheys.

Damn that sucks. Hugsssssssss. Life does seem to pile on when things go wrong. Heres to better days. I hope your poor dog will be alrignt. I hate to see animals suffer. As for the 16 year old i can only say they are only 14 years form 30.

Thanks Pacbleu

hugs are great! but...
I think I need a punching bag.

If it's any help ...

my beautiful dog lost both of his eyes (shotgun blast in the face) and he adapted beautifully. He lived another five years afterwards and you would swear he could see. All of his other senses became so magnified, that his impairment was replaced and he functioned well.

It is heartbreaking though (((hugs)))

Thanks peoples

You're right Kiwi,

The people are to blame. They've let the dog become the 'vicious dog at large' that she is labeled now. It makes me so damn mad, because I saw this coming and I didn't eliminate the dog from the gene pool. As for the people, how do you get along with that sort of inconsideration? I can't respond to how I feel, or...you'll need to bail me out. (and what's a Tooheys?)

Yes alltherage,

It really sucks! Our 13 y.o. daughter wants to kick some ass. We brought the Taz home from the vet this morning and we all almost broke down and cried. We're glad we still have her, but she's forever changed because of some arrogant ass's self-centeredness. Taz will adjust they claim. Probably better than we will.

Sorry about your dog, but if it makes you feel any better, my 18 year old einstien, slid my van in the ditch and got it stuck up to the doors.

thanks Cherry

That's something the vet said when he was explaining his reasons for removing the non-responsive organ that was already on her cheek. Seemed like all the techs at the emergency pet place had a story about a pet with only one eye. I even wondered if it was a requirement to work in that environment.

Both eyes? and its other senses stepped up to compensate? All we can do is hope for the same.

We did read a great quote from Reader's Digest that is from Kirk Douglas's new book. It seemed to fit.

"The world is filled with people who have suffered one misfortune or another. What sets the survivors apart from the others is the willingness to move on..."

damn teenage einsteins

Shylady....Is that einstein male or female?

If she's a female then it probably wasn't her fault. She was just checking her makeup when she slid.:D

If your einstein is male...well I would vote that teenage boys not be allowed to drive. There is something incongruent with: teenage boy and driving:confused:

lol my einstein is female and since she has been driving she has rear-ended two people (the last one she hit a car that hit a car)
and then buried the van.

So maybe I should take her make-up away?

I'd take her car keys until she got out of driver's training again.

Three one rear-ender is bad luck, two is not learning from the first to leave a bit of room ahead of her.

Hi WH, exactly what we did, which offended her to no end, but hey if it saves her life, I can live with her being offended.

Ouchhhhh!

Shylady,

I'm probably a chauvinist when it comes to young drivers. I wouldn't let guys get their license until they made their first million. But, gals under 25 should get unlimited points and second chances. :D I know that's terribly inconsistent. I better stop before I dig too deep of a hole to climb out of.

oh-h-h enchanted...I already feel better

Maybe it's in the name, too.

There is definitely a softening effect surrounding our feelings here at home. She's like one of the family only we belong to her - she doesn't belong to any one but herself:) . She loves to run and play with the coyotes around here. It will be interesting to see if her wildness is tamed.

Thanks for the enchantment

This place is like therapy.

Hey Laurel and Manu, you should sign up to be care providers with insurance companies.

I can see the Rx: 10 to 20 posts each day depending upon the severity of the reality.

So Sorry

Feel so terribly sorry about your week's misfortunes.

My dog died a year ago, and her last years were spent with very poor eyesight, and it didn't stop her enthusiasm one bit! (In fact I swear she's still "stealing" my socks!!):)

Glad your spirts seem to be up a bit.

Sorry about the dog.

I've got a 15 and 16 year old pair that want to get their permits. HA HA HA. They can't remember to turn the damn water off when they are done in the shower and they want to drive?

Thanks Jenny and Teach

I'm sure that the Taz will adjust and Einstein will grow up.
Yes, my spirits are better now, Teach - thanks to this place. The next time I need a remedy, I think I'll look here first.

One of my Engineering prof freshman year had a dog with both eyes gone. They lived out on a farmhouse in the middle of no where in the mountains. When they moved from the town to there they were worried about the dog, but it was fine. They thought being out there like that it might get lost or something, but it has lived out there for years and been fine. Dogs don't have the best eyesight to begin with, so they don't rely on their eyes very much. They can get along with just the other four senses pretty well.

ummm.....I don't have a punching bag, but I have a smackable ass<grin>.....will that at least distract you momentarily?

perky

Thanks Perky

Yes, Perky your smackable ass is so fucking distracting that I can't seem to find that f-u-c-k-i-n-g tree.

And Azwed, Thanks for the reminder about a dog's senses. That helps.
