Separatist party wins Quebec provincial election

Just in, the Parti Quebecois has won the Quebec provincial election but appears headed for a minority mandate:

Another small extreme left-wing separatist party has won two seats and could end up with the balance of power.

This doesn't mean any immediate referendum on independence to be sure, but does mean the perennial sovereignty question will be front and center of discussion for the next few years.

Though I personally find the PQ's non-language related social policies repulsive, its cool that this will give BBS conniption fits.

Quebec election results

Results are preliminary and include ridings where votes are still being counted

PQ (projected winner) : 59 seats | 40 elected | 19 leading
Liberals: 46 seats | 25 elected | 21 leading
CAQ: 18 seats | 10 elected | 8 leading
Québec Solidaire: 2 seats | 1 elected | 1 leading

63 seats are needed for a majority, looks like the PQ will be just short of that and not able to form a majority.
