Senator Tim Scott makes it official

A good man but a definite longshot. A much better VP candidate however.

Ellison was at the launch today. In his speech, Scott referred to Ellison as a mentor.

Probably a long shot but he’s entering with enough money and support to give it a go. It’s early.

Larry Ellison pumps $15M into super PAC aligned with Tim Scott

And so it begins. A candidate pisses in another's boot, who in turn flings some poo back at the pisser. There can only be one. And so it goes until there is, then everyone is best buds and all the losers are standing behind the chosen one yelling "This person is the best!" Politics, such a polite, genteel, mannerly endevor.

"I failed Civics, and I'm not the only one in the Capitol!"

Several of his colleagues didn't even start studying Civics. They think that gob-shitting means they're doing a good job.

The Republicans will get a lot of mileage out of his presence when it comes to insisting they're the true party of diversity, but I'll be surprised if he makes it past New Hampshire.

Money talks

Scott is coming into the campaign with more cash on hand than any other presidential candidate in U.S. history. At the end of his 2022 campaign, he had $22 million left over, which he plans to immediately transfer to his presidential coffers.

There are millions more in other organizations created to support Scott and his efforts. Opportunity Matters Fund, a pro-Scott super political action committee, spent more than $20 million to help Republicans in 2022, reporting $13 million-plus on hand to start 2023. Tech billionaire Larry Ellison has donated at least $30 million to the organization since 2021, according to federal filings.

Another super PAC, Opportunity Matters Fund Action, had around $3 million at the end of last year.

He has no hope.

Nor, I think, is the purpose of this campaign about anything except a transfer of wealth from his campaign coffers to other individuals. A transfer of wealth and money which will eventually find its way back to Scott and settle itself securely in his net worth ledger.

Finally!
We agree!
Let’s just pack it in and call it a day before we don’t again.

My previous post about LJE’s $15 million contribution was out of date. Hawaii’s beloved billionaire is in for $30 million. Elon Musk is supporting Scott as well.

Oracle's Larry Ellison gears up to spend millions to back Tim Scott's 2024 run

  • Billionaire Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison is getting ready to spend millions to support Sen. Tim Scott's run for president.
  • A Republican strategist and fundraiser close to Ellison said the tech executive is likely to significantly boost his donations to a pro-Scott super PAC he had given $30 million in the 2022 cycle.
  • Scott, a South Carolina Republican, has also received accolades recently from Tesla CEO Elon Musk.

White woman Joy Behar declares that Justice Clarence Thomas and Sen. Tim Scott have no clue what it's like to be a black man in America. "[They believe] in pulling yourself up by your bootstraps, rather than understanding the racism that African Americans face in this country."

Oh, Sweet Jesus! Two of your conservative colleagues have just pointed out, and I agreed, how much money is being funneled into the coffers of Tim Scott. I remember a time, not too long ago when conservatives and liberals agreed on campaign finance reform. How can Tim Scott, or any politician, truly say, they represent the people with this much money coming from one individual or an organization? Is this the hill you want to die on? Wondering how many other black men in America pick themselves up by their bootstraps and go on half a million European yacht vacations?

Money is the Mother's Milk of politics.

Money is Free Speech and those who don't like Free Speech all that much seem to tend to taking the money out of politics.

The ability to raise money and afford yourself feee speech serves to prove how much efficacious support a candidate has, unless you're the dimwit JEB!

I've heard that a lot of the big money donors want to keep giving to candidates like Scott but don't think they can win so they're holding back from giving anyone any campaign donations now.

I wonder how that's effecting Mr. Scott's campaign.
