Has anyone out there given themselves a brazilian wax? Any women who have tips?

I bought myself a waxing kit for the sole purpose of waxing my pubic hair, but I didn't really think about how I would do this. Has anyone ever waxed it all off by themselves? If so, how?

I have tried it. Didn't hurt as much as I thought it would be. But it didn't really work for me. Maybe I didn't do it fast enough or have the wax hot enough. Didn't take off much hair. Think that I did it wrong. So would love to also here some tips :)

I wouldn't recommend doing a brazillian wax yourself...there are some areas you have to get to that are just too hard to reach!!

It's possible to wax most areas ok...when waxing your bikini line or vagina lips, it helps to put one leg up on the bath or a bench, for example left leg up to wax left side.

When using hot wax, make sure you test it first, even if its just a little too hot, you can end up with pretty bad burns (speaking from experience here!) it's a good idea to sprinkle baby powder over the areas you are going to wax first, and if the hair is on the longish side, trim it first. Spread the wax quite thinkly with a knife, or it wont work.

but most importantly, hold your skin taut and pull quickly, or its going to hurt like hell and it wont be worth it...because little hair will come out. It's best to pull away from the direction your hair grows in - this is why you have to hold your skin!!

As a general rule, DONT WAX WHAT YOU CANT SEE!! all you'll end up with is a really, really big mess.

while I'd recommend getting it done by a professional, they stuff up too, often using wax that is way too hot.

And a few other things, don't have a hot bath or shower for at least 10 hours after, and wait a day or two to twease out left-over hairs. Use a loofah to scrub the waxed area a few days later, to stop from getting ingrowns.

All that said, this has more to do with pain, than brains!! Good luck!!

Thanks, That was some great advice!

I did try my own wax, but ran out of strips before I could finish. It's really nice and smooth where it's hairless tho. Perhaps I'll ask my partner to help me out with finishing up ;) I guess I'll have to trust him... :p

I think that's the spot I'm going to have the most trouble with when I do finish.

Yes I will have to try this advice....also. Love it so nice and smooth. Just hate ingrowns so much...And the red bumps. Ugh.

waxing inside the lips

This can be quite difficult to be honest. But most importantly I guess, DO make sure the wax isn't too hot. You're much better off ending up with a sticky mess than burning yourself. I'd always recommend using a water-based product, this way if you end up with a problem (ie, the wax is too cold or you just cant bring yourself to remove it!) you can just wash it off (but with cold to luke-warm water only please!!!!). The inner lips (and the bit just above the clit) are definately the most sensitive parts to wax, so really, all you can do to minimise pain is to make sure you hold the skin very very taut. A boyfriend can come in handy here (and after they see the pain your in, they will appreciate it all the more!!!)

Something you might like to try is to put ice on the area you are going to wax beforehand, it numbs it a bit. The last thing you want to do is increase blood circulation in that area, or it'll hurt even more.

As for ingrowns in the lip area, don't use a loofah there, the skin is way too thin and sensitive. I'd recommend using a flannel/facewasher etc instead, but only very gently. I've found you don't really get ingrowns in this area anyhow.

But, if you aren't very hairy in this area, tweezers are a good idea!!

GOOD LUCK!!! And I hope the other info worked for you!!
