[edit: Nevermind. Also, I said I'd accept PMs because a few people were being weird.]

I have a female character with uncontrollable anxiety. I need someone that is both, to review < 3k words for character mentality. Bonus points if you are into bondage. Feel free to PM me. Your help is much appreciated!

You're in a public space and that comes with upsides and downsides. Get over yourself. Or start your own forum.

True, but when I go to Chik-fil-A, I don't ask them for help with my homework. That would just be weird and rude.

A homophobic fast food chicken restaurant is an very odd equivalency to draw to Lit. So odd.

This place leans more towards a writers creativity workshop. And, for those in the business of creativity, realize exploration, non-sequiturs and, yes, sometimes even comedic tomfoolery come with territory.

I'll even advocate against myself and agree I wasn't on topic but far more ridiculous is a sense of ownership or policing a public thread you just so happened to OP. Where in the rules is "stick to stated topic only?" Even if moving away from the letter of the law to the spirit, please show me a thread that remotely sticks to topic. I am genuinely curious to see this mythical beast.

By not just letting a silly statement pass (as we do in workshops all the time as periphery thinking is a forced necessity to get a wrangle on creativity) and instead pointing it out and trying to impose some will or rights on it and your thread, you have only further derailed your thread.

Read over just about any thread here and you'll easily see they are all hardly individual fiefdoms laser focused on the OP lord's stated objectives. To fight against those currents is to surely drown oneself but best of luck to you, seriously.

[No personal attacks or trolling - including creating accounts for this specific purpose. Heated discussions are fine, even welcome. However, personally attacking / kink-shaming a fellow author or reader is not allowed within the Author's Hangout. Threads which devolve into the exchanging of insults will be closed and repeat offenders will be given a timeout, per the AH rules.]

But hey, I eat there on occasions, know why?

I like the food and he's entitled to his opinion even though I don't agree with it, but I don't have to.

I love how people squeal to hell and back that people like him need to respect others, but they don't have to respect anyone else's beliefs.

Want respect? Try giving it rather than hop on the latest lynch mob band wagon.

Okay, off the soap box and will now make my way through the cries of "LC's a phobe cause....um....yeah, he is!"

Hi,

These types of requests tend to go over very poorly here. People view them with suspicion. It probably doesnā€™t help that you are also asking about bisexuals who thought they were 100% gay/lesbian.

Speaking as a writer, this doesnā€™t seem entirely the writing process that Iā€™m familiar with.

What people worry about is that the OP just wants to have sexy chats with people. That may not be your aim, but people will make assumptions.

People will also suggest that you use your imagination.

Just sayinā€™

Em

You might want to pop this over into personals, or think through the logic of this question. Would a woman with uncontrollable anxiety be capable of doing such a thing? I wouldn't think so.

Nice way to work in a totally irrelevant analogy to let everyone know how righteous you are.
Wait, what? What you assumed virtue signaling (to give something to push against) is not. Baring a minor miracle, I am far more enmeshed in Chick-Fil-A culture than likely anyone in this thread. But this is ALL irrelevant.

He likened an erotic forum to a very conservative public facing fast food chicken purveyor. Surely I can find that equivalency odd.
But hey, I eat there on occasions, know why?
Again, I'd bury you in patronage. (as a counter to virtue signaling which, again, I really wasn't) Still irrelevant to any goings on here.

Was this implied anywhere? "Lit is like Chick-fil-a" have first amendment freedom of religion undertones I am unaware of?

Strawmen boxing wasn't on the activities list but here we are. Ok LC. Yeah. There are individuals guilty of exactly what you charge. If anything, your stance here should be of the side of freedom of expression (of tomfoolery or whatever) than the OP policing the content of the thread he happened to create.

I know you revel in this sort of stir up the vocal minority who themselves revel in disagreeing with you mostly just to disagree WITH YOU.

You self generated the spark though. I'd tell you there was zero to go off of but doubtful you'd believe me or that you really worry about such considerations when you are chomping at whatever particular bit has you sparked.

But ok man. Point made. Further non-sequiturs piled on the thread further proving my "this is not a laser focused space" point.

I wouldn't know. It's hard for me because I don't think I've ever experienced anxiety. Hence, why I'm asking for assistance.

Anxiety is a very personal thing. Arguably much more personal than sex. Iā€™m not sure you are going to get many people lining up to talk about it.

YMMV

Chik Filet is the most mediocre chicken ever.

I'll die on that hill šŸ˜†.
Its consistent is as charitable as I'll be.

I've never had one of their sandwiches that particularly stood out and any bad were quickly rectified without any guilt or fuss unlike most other places.

Franchisees of other places can be downright scary while hiding under the cloak of the brand name and CFA won't abide that.

But the hours long lines down blocks and the tv news crew coverage when an outlet opens up in a new area boggles my mind.

Speaking as a writer, this doesnā€™t seem entirely the writing process that Iā€™m familiar with.
My process, writing or otherwise, goes like this: I envision moving from Act II to Act III, then I work backwards to figure out what needs to happen to get me to the end of Act II. I don't usually use personal experience or anything that I'm familiar with to start a story on page one and work my way forward.

If I find out that I need an astronaut in my story, so be it. If I discover that I need to learn some statistics or a programming language to solve a problem, then that's what I do. I don't discard my end goal just because I don't know how to start.

I sincerely thank you for the feedback.

Anxiety can be a very serious and harmful medical condition, and isn't something to be treated lightly. It can be debilitating for someone who suffers it, and for those around them.

May I suggest you use Google, and read up on it.

I feel like I should start every post with ā€œIā€™m not trying to be argumentativeā€.

I do research too. But I either use Google, or I talk to friends who might help. Iā€™m not questioning research, just the research method.

Anyway, I wish you luck with the story.

It's tough dude. No joke, I've been trying to learn about it for almost ten years. It's just really hard for me to understand.

That's ok though, I'll table this thread and figure it out on my own, maybe in another ten years or so.
