Seeking Female Assistance

I'm writing a new chapter to the He Said, She Said series where a gypsy curse has turned an aggressive male into a female.

He/she sees a need for a gynecological visit.

What to expect? Any and all input would be helpful in making the chapter as descriptive and accurate as possible.

Thanks to all in advance

And here I thought all along you were guy. But thanks.

Speaking of s speculum, not sure what that is. But I can google it.

Alas, Jomar is right. If the doctor is a woman, she'll warm the speculum. If the doctor is a man, he'll probably forget to do that. Cold instruments

After feet are in the stirrups, doctor will ask the woman to move down. For some reason no matter where the woman has placed herself, it's never down far enough. Her ass will hang almost over the papered edge of the padded bench. Speculum will go in, and then the doctor will say, "Going to feel a pinch here..." as sample is taken. Ouch. Imagine the sensation of accidentally bitting the inside of your cheek from an interior spot in your body below your navel but above your groin.

Then the doctor pulls speculum out (actually, it's all over pretty fast). Doctor will follow this by putting a finger up the rectum to feel shape of the uterus. When finished the woman will be very wet--a lot of, um, juice gets spilled.

I was with you until the finger up the rectum. I don't recall that ever happening.

Differences

Just for a slightly different point of view, In Australia we don't see a Ob/Gyn unless referred for a specialist problem, we get our pap smears, pregnancy stuff, etc done by the GP, no special chair, stirrups or anything though the position they ask us to pull is far from easy or comfortable.

Pillow under the ass, pull feet back as close as you can to said pillow supported ass while bending legs, then flop knees out sideways..... the rest is the same, cold speculum and all, though I rarely felt the little pinch just the discomfort of the speculum widening and my little asian doctor ducking under the sheet draping my flopping knees to have a good look, saying "yes yes very healthy."

I find women doctors aren't as gentle as the men probably because they have all the same bits.

Anyway my two cents worth ^_^

Every time I've gone, the nurse has stayed in the room during the test. After you're taken into the room you put of the little gown and the nurse at my doctor's always leaves a little blanket/sheet to cover your lap while you wait (funny when you consider he's going to see everything anyway, but it is kind of comforting, lol). Definitely cold speculum, *ugh*. It's slightly painful, but mostly a really uncomfortable pressure. For a pap test the doctor uses the speculum to open the vagina and then does a swab of the inside where they collect cells from your cervix. If the room is cold it makes the whole experience more uncomfortable because it already chilly wearing the smock/gown. Little odd detail, my OB-GYN has large-printed comic strips taped to the ceiling of the exam room, which makes it slightly less awkward... Slightly. Good luck with your story! :) (also, never had a finger in the rectum, not sure what to say about that :),

Pretty much the same as everyone else. Although my last visit was with a new OB/GYN and he kept asking me how many children I had. I told him 4, then he said well you certainly cant tell it from here. Actually made me day :)
Oh and his name was Dr. O'Dear!

In my experience, the speculum bit is over fast, but I've never had my doctor feel the shape of my uterus that way. He/she usually inserts a couple of fingers in the vagina, then presses from the inside as well as outside.

Also, there's always a nurse there.

;) It might be a matter of age, Trinque, as I'm older and it's possible that certain problems that come with older age can be checked out that way (endrometriosis springs to mind).

It's called a bimanual rectovaginal exam and it's not unusual

I'm in agreement with no smock--there's a top part smock and a lap cover. No nurse. And given that my doctor is one of those women doctors who specializes in checking over women from pregnancy to after the kid is born, I often find myself in a room where there are pictures of mobiles to entertain a baby or toddler. Very odd looking up at a baby mobile while going through the exam.

In my experience, the speculum bit is over fast, but I've never had my doctor feel the shape of my uterus that way. He/she usually inserts a couple of fingers in the vagina, then presses from the inside as well as outside.
Mine does this as well.

Uh, oh. Another doctor caught "at it."
Sigh. Such dirty minds...from here:
Routine pelvic exams are a reasonable precaution, although they are not a perfect screening method. This exam is performed in two ways. The doctor inserts two fingers into the vagina while feeling the abdomen with the other hand. The doctor also performs a bimanual rectovaginal exam, which involves the insertion of one finger into the vagina and another into the rectum. Both exams enable the doctor to assess the size of the ovaries as well as the contour and mobility of the uterus and to feel for masses and growths. The rectovaginal exam can sometimes reveal rectal lesions that may otherwise go unnoticed and is particularly important for women over 50.

So, rather than looking sideways at my doctor, one might ask, why aren't these other ob gyns doing a better and more thorough job checking their patients' ovaries and uteruses for such things?

One thing no one's mentioned, including me, is the breast exam. That's usually done first. I'm told to raise one arm above my head, then the doctor ... not sure "palpates" is the right word, but the doctor pushes and squeezes the breast while looking for lumps.

Here is a page on a self-exam, which wouldn't be too different.

I know some folk who like their BDSM medical-themed actually keep the speculums in the fridge...

Thanks all for your input. Got what I needed for the story and can go forward with some confidence. If you like the topic and wish to keep on posting that's great too.
